On 20 July 2026, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz attended the traditional prelude concert at NOVUM Concert Hall in Brussels, on the eve of Belgium's National Day. Belgian National Day is the country's national holiday, commemorated annually on 21 July. For the occasion, Queen Mathilde wore a white jumpsuit by Natan.
During the performance, which is an annual Belgian tradition, violinist Elli Choi was among those who took to the stage. In 2024, she placed third in the Queen Elisabeth Competition, an international music competition held in Belgium. Choi performed alongside the Belgian National Orchestra, conducted by Hankyeol Yoon.

DeleteIt has nothing to do with their wedding anniversary. Other queens and princesses are wearing white outfits too. The jumpsuit is a rewear which was new in 2024 for the dining party the evening of the start of the Olympic games in Paris. People who are renewing their vows usually do not wear white again.

ReplyDeleteI don't like the design of Princess Astrid's gown. The dropped waist in the 2nd last photo of her is very noticeable. Clearly seen is gathering, I don't like this feature at all. I feel this style of dress is adding bulk, when none is there. Love the placement of her diamond brooch, this is of substance, and looks so effective.
Wow, this is perfect look, wonderful jumpsuit and this layer over shoulders beautifully finishes the whole appearance. Nice!

This is a wonderful, becoming look for the Queen. I love everything about this outfit! Princess Astrid’s dress is too fussy, she is lost in all that fabric, and that colour is a tad dark for summer. A miss for her!
ReplyDeleteThis is a Natan jumpsuit I quite like. The chiffon overlay is something I would wear myself. Princess Astrid, sadly, is giving me strong 80's vibes (not all fashion of that period was bad, though), and I think it is too much of everything. Too much fabric, too much bow, too dark (perhaps for a remembrance event?). But then, I also like the more transparent top part here. Can't wait for Princess Delphine to show up for tomorrow's events. *sniggers*
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks great in her outfit, but I am not a fan of jumpsuits, even if they look this good. Astrid I love the colour of her dress, maybe a bit dark for summer however the emerald colour and lightness of the fabric may just shimmer with movement. The king looks very nice in the double breasted suit, again I am not keen on double breasted, but he looks very polished in this well fitted jacket.

Having worked in the City of London for the last 40 years, double-breasted pinstipe suits scream the bad side of the late 1980s and the early 1990s corporate world. The downturm Q3 1990 - Q3 1991 helped put a stop on some of that. Double-breasted is sometimes seen as more formal, look at King Charles III dressed for a Royal Garden Party. But plenty of royal men do gorgeous tailoring without either, King Felipe of Spain being my favourite.
