King Frederik, Queen Mary, Prince Gustav, Princess Carina, Princess Mafalda and Prince Gustav Albrecht

On Friday, July 10, 2026, the traditional changing of the Royal Guards took place in the courtyard of Graasten Palace in Jutland, with King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark attending the event, as is customary. Prince Gustav, Princess Carina, and their two young children—two-year-old Princess Mafalda and three-year-old Prince Gustav Albrecht—also joined the King and Queen for the occasion.

Did she come right off the tennis court?

Apparently. How fantastic that she can wear this in public and that’s she’s the sort of queen who has the sort of public for whom this is normal. A+.

  3. Ah, it seems the Queen of Denmark just has had a tennis match with her husband's cousin, Prince Gustav. The two Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg kids are simply adorable.

Little Gustav Albercht reminds me of CP Christian at that age. Mafalda is as cute as a button. Her soft toy is almost bigger than her.
Fashion wise. It looks like the changing of the guard might have interrupted QM and Prince Gustav’s tennis game! As tennis ensembles go, this is pretty.

    I love these photos!
Straight off the bat, the kids are so, so, cute! If you see the videos of this event, they are even cuter than in the photos. Secondly, it's lovely to see Frederik and Mary interacting with the children. Frederik especially looks like he's enjoying the little ones. Thirdly, it's really nice to see F&M dressed so casually for their holidays. Mary looks amazingly good! Her tennis outfit fits like a glove and she looks smashing, if I may use a tennis term. Finally, it's also nice seeing the children's parents. It would seem from this visit and past visits in previous years that Frederik gets along well with his cousins. Good family relationships can be wonderful. Looking forward to seeing the rest of M&F's children and Q.Margarethe and P. Benedickte join the family holiday, and possibly also Pr. Joachim and Ps.Marie and their children stop by from the US for a few days.
    Happy Summer to all.

  7. These photos are so lovely, natural and authentic. Yes I also saw somewhere that Queen Mary had played a game of Tennis, with Prince Gustav. You can see him in the 2nd photo to the left of photo in his tennis gear, nice! Queen Mary looks great in her outfit. She keeps physically fit, setting a good example.
    The children are so cute.

    Happy summer to everyone!

Mary looks picture-perfect in her tennis whites. Few women actually look stylish in a t-shirt as basic as this, but Mary is rocking it.
But Frederick, not so much. That limp polo shirt is one of the flimsier variety. In my opinion he would look sharp (and feel cooler!) with a waffle knit polo, with its more structured shape. His proportions would look more balanced with 5" inseam shorts rather than these long ones. And finally, some fresher colours for shorts and shoes -- white, navy, black-- would better complement pale blue. Lyra

Oh please not waffle knit. Ugh. The king is fine in his casual clothes and doesn’t need improvement!

Disagree @Lyra. Agree with @anon 16:06. Waffle knit looks terrible. Frederik looks cool and fine to me. -Liza

When you look QM in her tennis outfit you would thought this picture is taken 17 years ago when Isabella & Christian were att same age as these cute toddlers, even her incredible body looks the same😳 how does she do it?!

      @ Rossella
      Zero stress?
Dolci buonissimi in Danimarca , ma vanno mangiati 'cum grano salis', tagliare quasi a zero salse , maionese e condimenti vari, almeno io faccio così, altrimenti addio linea!
