The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared two new photographs of their daughter, Princess Lilibet, as they celebrate her fifth birthday. "Our dream girl. Happy 5th birthday, Lili," the Duchess captioned the images alongside a heart emoji. Princess Lilibet of Sussex, born on June 4, 2021, is an American-born member of the British royal family. She is the second child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and is two years younger than her brother, Prince Archie.

I think they don't want us to see Lilibet's face for security reasons. I totally understand. But why release the pictures at all if you want privacy?
ReplyDeleteAgree with Sandra
DeleteYes, agreed. Actions speak louder than words, and based on their actions over time, I don’t think they actually want privacy. I think they want fame and wealth, Meghan perhaps more so than Harry. There is not necessarily anything wrong with striving for fame and wealth, but they are rather hypocritical about it, which is irksome.

Good question.
DeleteI agree Sandra
DeleteThey never asked for privacy. They are sharing for those of us who love them and enjoy seeing what happy and fulfilling lives they have built for their little family. It is very usual now for parents to share photos without showing their children’s faces. LRB
Delete@Sandra - I completely agree with you. I too do not understand the need for these children to be so visual on their Mom’s IG page.
DeleteHarry has been so vocal about the hazard of putting young children on SM, I’m perplexed as to why it’s encouraged with his own kids.
Lowri.
Agreed "Anon 21:19.” Furthermore, even "regular" people these days often don't share their children's faces to the masses on the Web (close friends and family only). With AI advancing every second it's becoming way too easy for you to loose total control of your own face/image - identity theft, profiting from your image without your permission, and far more sinister things that can't be mentioned on this blog for fear of being block and all my posting privileges denied. We don’t need to see kid’s faces to admire how much they have grown and matured. We do, however, have to block their faces so they don’t end up being exploited. That’s true for the Sussexs as well as “John and Jane Doe.” Sad but true. Prince William and his family are an exception. They are in direct line of succession and "senior" royals. They have a different cross to bare.
DeletePeople like you constantly use the privacy spouted by the British media knowing full well they never said it. She said she wanted to choose what she revealed about her family because they were further down the line.
DeletePrince Harry has been famous since he was young. I'm not one that didn't know Suits either and remembered watching her on the Today show. They want to work and earn income instead of doing nothing. Meghan wanted to do some of this before she married into the family. They shouldn't have to remain idle because they're royals. Non working royals have to work they don't get nearly 30 million dollars. Edward did documentaries, Sophie had to be told to stop promoting luxury items, and the others are constantly working or grifting depends on who you ask. They want to support and protect their children from hate that partially derives from comments like this. They want to save money for their family's future and live well in the meantime. I don't blame them.
DeleteYeah I know so much about their lives. Oh wait no I don't and neither do either of you miseries. I know they have 2 lovely children who are away from that toxic cesspit who are surrounded by people who want the best for their future. Not a spare's spare. But a happy hopeful future so well done. Lovely.
DeleteThey never asked for privacy, just for the press to stop printing half truths and lies about them. Turning every opportunity into headlines to sell more papers.
DeleteLRB - they did ask for privacy. That’s fact.
DeleteVery well put Sandra, and politely, I agree wholeheartly.
DeleteExactly Sandra. I agree.
DeleteSuch a sweet little girl. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
Very sweet. Despite family ruptures, I hope she grows up feeling stable and loved. Not an easy childhood for these kids I imagine.
ReplyDeleteI think the childhood they provide in California is far more stable and filled with love and a positive future than any in the UK.
DeleteHard to say 1:56. These little kids have been torn from their dad’s family in Britain, and their mom has split from most of her family too. They have grandparents - but don’t see most. The have cousins - but don’t know them. Quite a lot of ruptures to explain.
DeleteI agree with you both, anon 01.56 and anon 17.44.
DeleteI wonder if you spread some $$$$$$ around would you see her cute face!!! Call your people Duchess!
ReplyDeleteThat's a tasteless comment that tells more about the commenter than the Duchess.
Delete-B.
What a nasty comment. They are very clear about why they share some photos and why they don’t share the faces of their children. The York Princesses do exactly the same. Do you criticise them? LRB
Delete@21:17: Clearly not true. First they did not share any photos, they told us why, and it was OK, now they show them, but faceless. The Why is the Duchess's business. Now show me a person who enjoys looking at photos of faceless persons? there is nothing enjoyable about that, it is simply annoying. The face is the mirror of the soul, it is essential for a person. And yes, same apples to the Yorks, except they don't use them for business like Meghan. Disgusting.
DeleteGive me an absolute break, The Duchess never does anything for free. In fact, her past comments about overpriced candles was obnoxious, Have you priced her candles lately. I just hope she is charitable and throws in some flower sprinkles with her runny jam for free. It is called commercialization dahling!!!
DeleteFair comments Fitzhugh.
DeleteDear Fitzhugh. I always enjoy reading your comments related to fashion.
DeleteBut I’m beginning to dislike more and more your non fashion comments.
But I suppose I can just click and move on.
Opps, forgot to wish that little cuti-pie a Happy Birthday.
Nice happy family photo of the occasion.
Very cute little dress.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, sweet Lili!
ReplyDeleteThis age is so sweet and adorable. Now wait when they turn 18, they don't want to talk to you ever again. An example we set for our children.
ReplyDeleteEverytime they show a picture of one of their children imo it is mostly showing what a wonderfull caring parents they are.
ReplyDeleteSomeone brush her hair! I don’t understand this trend to show pictures without faces.
ReplyDeleteHer hair is beautiful! Disgusting comment!
DeleteThank you, no interest in outfits worn by faceless persons. Those who really want to protect their kids don't post any photos of them.
ReplyDeleteHear, hear!
DeleteShe is protecting them from nasty people such as yourselves that constantly try to dehumanize them.
DeleteAnon 20:39: People who call their co-commenters "nasty" and "dehumanizing" do not really fit into a civilized discussion.
DeleteSandra and UK subjects: if they did show her face, you'd find something to critisize even if she is a child.
ReplyDeleteA very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to PRINCESS LILIBET!!!!
I am English and I must be one of few who is not bothered about to show or not to show faces. As long as the parents love their children and visaverser( can't spell) that's all that matters
ReplyDeletevice versa ;-)
DeleteBeautiful! Happy Birthday Princess Lillibet!
ReplyDeleteNasty comments targeting innocent children from the top.
ReplyDeleteHappy 5th birthday little girl.
ReplyDeletecss
All you haters - if they don't publish any photos you complain. They publish and you complain. In your eyes she can never be right.
ReplyDeleteShe's the woman prince Harry chose. And they are happy together.
Happy 5th birthday little Lillibet!
@AA: If it is important for you not to call her Lili, like her mother does, then please at least do not distort the Late Queen's pet name and spell it in the right way. Look it up.
DeleteNot haters. To criticise or doubt is not hate. And no one here complains if we don’t see the children’s photos; rather we worry when she uses them in her social media to sell her lifestyle brand. Keeping their faces private is a great idea. But keeping all photos of them off the web would be even better. This doesn’t mean I am a hater.
Delete12:50 you can allow another to have a small typo. Your passive aggressive comment is not welcome.
DeleteAnon 01:55 thank you for so eloquently stating your sentiments, I appreciate and agree with you 100%. Some of the posters on this site are so full of venom disguised as “opinions” that I rarely read anything here. I assume the posters are adults who understand the perils of posting children’s photos nowadays, I applaud mom and pop Sussex for doing a lovely job of sharing with us their joy while protecting their children, Happy, happy birthday Lili, Rem
