The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are visiting Portugal to celebrate the enduring historical ties and modern relationship between the United Kingdom and Portugal.
On the second day of their visit, the Duchess of Edinburgh met with students taking part in Model NATO. The programme is a British Embassy Lisbon initiative that brings together students from the University of Birmingham and six Portuguese universities to simulate a high-level meeting of NATO's North Atlantic Council.
Afterwards, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visited Batalha Monastery in Batalha to mark the 640th anniversary of the Treaty of Windsor. The Duke laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, while the Duchess laid flowers at the tomb of King John I of Portugal and Queen Philippa of Lancaster. The King and Queen are buried at Batalha Monastery.

Appreciating a dress that is mid length as opposed to ankle covering maxi dresses 👗
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. Excellent summer formal loveliness.
ReplyDeleteLovely person, lovely face. A correct/appropriate but unlovely outfit.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sophie! This time the dress is a better length and a better colour and looks good. I'm not a fan of the espadrille style of shoe and it looks clumsy with this dress Then--aaargh! The long blazer style jacket which just looks wrong. . Maybe next outfit will have all components right at the same time

DeleteTotally agree
DeleteEspadrilles are not the type of shoe to wear with a dress like this. A pity now that she is wearing a less long dress.
ReplyDeleteI would really love to say that I like this outfit on Sophie, as she isn't wearing a dress that's too long! But I feel the jacket is too big for her, and the dress, which has lovely colours, could be more flattering. It looks better from different angles though, and I do think the length is nice for a change.
ReplyDeleteI want to like the look, the dress is a nice length, perhaps it is the jacket’s style that is not the best and though I like espadrilles they truncate her leg. Lovely colour dress for her. Becoming a signature look, putting a coordinating jacket with a dress, skirt or pants.
ReplyDeleteQuelles affreuses chaussures pour accompagner cette robe sans goût. Josée.
ReplyDeleteDress and blazer: great pieces independently. Not so much together. Shoes: totally inappropriate for the event. For some reason she keeps getting something not quite right.
ReplyDeleteThe white jacket is nice. The dress, fits well and the length is perfect, lovely color scheme of this dress. The shoes though I don't like. The jacket I am not a fan of combined with this dress. I like her up style hair. The Duke looks very smart, his suit fits well he looks perfectly attired.
ReplyDeletei really like this outfit but the shoes ruin it. i think the jacket is great but looks too long because the shoes make her legs look short
ReplyDeleteMoan about the long length..then again wearing a shorter length. She cant please everyone. Can't anyone give a nice compliment for once ?
ReplyDeleteI agree, the CONSTANT bashing of Sophie is awful and unfair, as opposed to another major royal who is treated like a saint by many bloggers. The same applies to Stephanie of Luxemburg who has been horribly attacked

In my reading, there are lots of positive comments. Most posters have liked the dress and praised the Duchess for the more flattering length.
Delete@Virginia: stop calling negative opinions about outfits "bashing of Sophie". In this blog, we talk about outfits and not persons. Is it really so difficult to understand the difference?? Sophies qualities as a person, as a human being, her qualities as a royal, are not the topic here. It is you who is bashing: commenters whose opinion you don't like. Stop it please.
