On June 10, 2026, Queen Camilla visited St Mungo's accommodation sites for people experiencing homelessness in south London. During the visit, the Queen met residents and staff involved in a shared reading programme supported by The Queen's Reading Room.
In 2021, the Queen launched The Queen's Reading Room, a charity that champions the transformative power of literature in the United Kingdom and beyond.
The programme has been introduced in nine St Mungo's services through the provision of staff training toolkits, donated books, and The Queen's Reading Room Shelves. Founded in 1969, St Mungo's is one of England's leading homelessness charities, working directly with people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness and providing services that help them find a permanent route out of homelessness.
