On June 20, the Duchess of Gloucester celebrated her 80th birthday. Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester (born 20 June 1946), is a Danish-born member of the British royal family. She is married to Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester. To mark the occasion, Buckingham Palace released new photographs of the Duchess of Gloucester.
The new photographs were taken earlier this month in the Yellow Drawing Room and the gardens of Buckingham Palace by Chris Jackson. For the photographs, the Duchess wore a sage green dress by Ulrich Engler, featuring a buttoned bodice, and a pleated flared midi skirt.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to HRH the Duchess! These photos are gorgeous. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the necklace shown in the first photo - wow. The baby bird-egg blue of the belted suit is beautifully cut and fitted and the Duchess looks wonderful in it.
ReplyDeleteNo one in the British royal family wears jewelry like this Duchess. Lord willing, in the far distant (I hope) future, the family will find a way to keep it in the family and won’t have to sell it to pay horrid death taxes, never to be seen again.

ReplyDeleteI saw a little video today, the two of them leaving a public appointment together. He, waiting politely until she finishes her last words to a woman, then while he begins to turn away to go, he lifts his arm just a tiny little bit - enough for his wife to slip her arm into his, like they always did, no need for words or a more accentuated offer of his arm. Quite seldom in royal circles, to behave exactly like you behave when you are on your own. Very moving and they are a beautiful couple.

I don't really know any other royal lady who can put a tiara on her head without having what royal fans call "tiara hair", or even without having a dedicated hairstyle for an event. Sometimes she has, sometimes she does not - but she always looks impeccable with that tiara on her short hair. Her outfit choices are simple but always impeccable and so tastefully put together. Really, I adore her personality, at least what you can see shine through her appearance. If so beautiful inside like she is outside, then the Duke is truly blessed with her.

ReplyDeleteThese photos are stunning, some of the nicest I have seen in a long time. The pale blue suit looks wonderful, it fits perfectly, very elegant. The last photo with the white dress, what a lovely outfit. Combined with the pearl and emerald stones, this looks marvelous, so elegant. She has wonderful work ethic, especially being her age, which is hard to believe. She gets on with the job, similar to the Princess Royyal flies mostly under the radar, with no fan fare or fuss, nor has she ever looked for it, so inspirational. Happy birthday Ma'am.
