King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on 19 June, but the Royal Couple began commemorating the special occasion six days in advance. A large number of royals travelled to Stockholm to take part in the celebrations marking the King and Queen’s golden wedding anniversary.
To the sound of Sinfonia da Chiesa—the same piece played when the Royal Couple walked to the altar in 1976 at Stockholm Cathedral—the celebrations began with a thanksgiving service, Te Deum, for invited guests in the Royal Chapel. Following the service, the King and Queen hosted a luncheon for invited guests at the Royal Palace.
On the occasion of the King and Queen’s 50th wedding anniversary, the City of Stockholm organized an open-air concert at Kungsträdgården, where King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were the guests of honour. Described as “a musical journey of love through 50 years,” the concert was open to the public.
Among the members of the Swedish Royal Family attending the celebrations marking the King and Queen’s wedding anniversary were Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Ines, Prince Julian, Princess Madeleine, Chris O'Neill, Princess Leonore, Princess Adrienne, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Christina.
Among the specially invited royal guests were Princess Benedikte of Denmark, King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway, Princess Takamado of Japan, Prince Gustav and Princess Carina of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, and Prince Leopold and Princess Ursula of Bavaria.

Everybody looks so stylish. The Queen is a standout in red. But the winner is Victoria in this lovely butteryellow dress and beautiful hat.
ReplyDeleteI agree! But then also Sofia in her bright pink outfit is a stunner - and baby Ines of course!
Delete18.58. Yes both very nice and Pr M also!
DeleteAgree !!
DeleteConsidering V suit cost about $2600 she better look good in it 😂🤣 And she does. The best one in my eyes.
DeleteWhere is beautiful Estelle? Do not see her in any pictures
ReplyDeleteShe’s on a language camp this month
DeleteAbroad on summer language school! Ac
DeleteEn voyage scolaire à l'étranger.
DeleteThank you all for the information about Estelle. What a pity that she wasn't there! (But then of course school is important.)
ReplyDeleteHow completely beautiful. The Swedish locals all look just lovely, of course with Silvia and Carl Gustav looking best of all on this, their day.
ReplyDeleteEstelle?
ReplyDeleteShe is away on a school trip
DeleteThe Queen looks so lovely in her red suit but I am blown away by CPV’s stunning appearance - the hat, suit, and all the accessories are just perfection! She looks magnificent! (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks stunning in her matching red outfit with her King. Congrats on their anniversary - a true milestone! Madeleine really rocks her two piece white outfit and the hat is picturesque - she gets my vote for the best dressed. But Victoria also looks lovely in her butter cream yellow two piece creation. Sofia looks lovely and so poised (though not too crazy about the saucer hat), all the children look adorable and Pr Benedikte always elegant - she calmed the colorful dress down with such a beautiful jacket and hat. She always gets it right. I like the two powder pink outfits quite a lot, too. Some elegant styles here today and little Innes is taking it all in! - Virginia Dogwood
ReplyDeleteAgree: Victoria looks very stylish!
ReplyDeleteI though Victoria had the best outfit (50's style to the hilt) until I saw P.Madeline - she looks stunning, and I love the shape of the brim of her hat. Very happy to see P.Benedikte and P.Takamado, the two most elegant ladies of their generation of their respective royal houses. Great to see them walking in together. All the grandies are adorable though I realise that P.Estelle doesn't seem to be present.

For those wondering why Princess Estelle was absent: She is currently on an extended school trip for language studies. I also think the Serbian royals (I know, their monarchy is no longer existing) have been in attendance. I thought they all looked extremely well put together. While there was a recent criticism on Queen Maxima wearing a flowered headband as being too childish - well, the same then would apply to Princess Carina of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, would it not? Just saying ...
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the headband.
DeleteEveryone who attended looked smashing, however, baby Inez is the clear winner! She is just a scene stealing doll!
ReplyDeleteMadeline’s suit is just beautiful. I am not sure of Queen Sylvia’s dress and blazer…red I always associate as a winter colour…but I suspect she choose this as to stand out from the crowd of pastels.
Oh wow, what a mean and jealous comment! Do you realize that it's also Sofia's and Carl Philip's wedding day, eleventh. I have never heard of wedding anniversary colour rules for guests. And Sofia is not a guest, she is family. I'm sure that Sofia and queen Silvia have talked about their outfits and colours. You are really childish if you think that Sofia just decided to "steal the show".
DeleteThey all look wonderful, what a beautiful family. Little Ines is just too cute.
DeleteSofia had always received many critics. If it isn't about the way she is dressed it is about her hair. Her hair is as beautiful or as long, or as high-lighted as any other royal lady. I always had the impression she is one of those princesses who will never be accepted the way she is.
Paloma.
My favorite outfits are Victoria’s and Madeleine’s; they both look exquisitely elegant. I like the color of Sofia’s outfit, but her hair is looking a bit straggly here and the saucer-like hat affixed almost completely sideways to her head is not the most flattering. Carina also looks quite good with her pale pink and her floral headpiece (note to Maxima: floral headpiece for church service, not for criminal courts visit. Lol). Beneditke is elegant, as usual. Surprisingly, Silvia’s outfit is probably my least favorite. That is a lot of red, and it looks more like a winter outfit for some reason - maybe due to the texture of the coat and hat.

Totally agree.
DeleteThe red ensemble looks beautiful, the diamond and pearl drop earrings, perfect choice by the Queen. CP Victoria looked impeccable, this two piece outfit, I love. Perfect fit, loved the soft color. The style suited her beautifully, she looked so elegant. Equally Madeleine's two piece suit looked gorgeous, so elegant. Her diamond earrings, stunning.
ReplyDeletePss Bene and Pss Takamado looked divine, both dressed well, jewels perfect. They are both so beautifully groomed and styled.
When I saw Princess Madeleine in her white outfit and that wonderful hat and her lovely hairstyle, I was stunned. WOW. She looks so beautiful, elegant and regal. The best I have ever seen her.
ReplyDeleteP.Sofia in pink dress from Lilli Jahilo looked great, but I did not like her hat and hairstyle.
Crown Princess Victoria in yellow looked good but not fond of yellow.
Queen Silvia in red looked gorgeous.
Very happy golden jubilee marriage anniversary!!!

Princess Madeleine looks amazing, she is just perfect! Her outfit is so well put together and she is unbelievably beautiful, so regal. She should be the definition of a Princess!
ReplyDeleteCP Victoria also looks really nice, I like the pale yellow colour on her.
I like the colour of Princess Sofia’s outfit but in my opinion the dress and the hat was not elegant enough. Not the style nor the fabric. Also I would have chosen an updo instead of wearing her hair down. I also prefer a darker hair colour for her, I think this blondish hair does not suit her and you can tell that her hair is damaged too (probably because of the bleaching).
Queen Silvia looks fantastic, after all those years she is increadibly beautiful and stylish too.
The whole family is amazing!
Larina
I really don't see Madeleine as "the definition of a princess".
DeleteThat is your problem Coralie. You don’t have to be rude just because you disagree.
DeleteNeither am I "rude" nor do I have "a problem".
DeleteJust curious, Coralie, who is your definition of a princess…no snark, just wondering?
ReplyDeleteMadeleine looks amazing as does Victoria. Sofia's hat is ridiculous
ReplyDeleteSofia's hat cannot look ridiculous as it looks similar with all the other hats of all the other princesses : PoW, Maxima, CP Victoria, GD Stéphanie, Zara Tindall etc... This type of flying saucer hat is fashion among them. The thing is that of some of them certain commenters cannot like anything even if her sisters in law are wearing more or less the same hats and also other princesses of other royal families.
DeleteThere were many beautiful outfits on display at the festivities. The most stylish of them all was Princess Victoria. Her beautiful, clean-lined outfit fit her perfectly; the color was softly elegant, the hat was classic, and the black accessories provided just the right contrast. Queen Silvia’s outfit was beautiful but perhaps not very summery. Madeleine’s white outfit was quite pretty, but not wow—unfortunately, white shoes are rarely the best choice. Sofia’s outfit was otherwise beautiful, but the hat was perhaps a bit “too much,” especially with her hair down. -Siri
ReplyDeletePrincess Madeleine in white and Crown Princess Victoria in yellow both look so elegant and regal. Really love that they both wore proper hat, especially Madeleine's hat was so pretty. Sofia's pink dress looked also very pretty but not fan of her hairstyle and hat. Queen Silvia in red looked so lovely and she's still looking so great at the age of 82.
