After a couple of not-so-well-dones, I am full happy this time with this outfit. Fabulous colour, no florals and no excessive fabric draped around her, a very clean and very favourable silhouette, beautiful open neckline connected in a good way to the shoulders, length is good, hair is wonderful, allowing a vertically lengthening impression by showing her neck. Beautiful pearls and necklace.

  2. Aww, lovely. What a difference it makes to GD Stephanie when she wears colour. The dress fits her well, has terrific neckline/shoulder detail and the colour is stunning. With nice shoes, lovely jewellery and smart up do, she looks great. The wife of the Portuguese president also very smart but Stephanie easily the winner here

Dear AnnieM, Your positive comments regarding Stephanie are very good but have you noticed the details on the dress of the president‘s wife, for example the back with the intricate buttons? I do find her dress interesting, including the front. There is no winner for me.

Being it no competition, the light blue dress of the presidents wife is more to my taste: beautifull colour and cut, very simple done in heavy silk. Sleeves would be a good choice for Sophie too.

Where are the days that Natan made dresses in heavy silk and everybody found it awful, it was too stiff not enough fluent.....

What a difference. This is a dress that suits her very well. The color is good, it fits her, the length is OK and she is wearing beautiful shoes. I am not so fond of the jewellery. The necklace doesn't match the earrings and the brooch. I'd prefer another brooch or this brooch put on one of the shoulders. The necklace are probably diamonds and it must be old because it looks like it needs a good cleaning.

      Ouch is right.
While the color is great for her, it's not flattering on her shape.

    2. I totally agree. I've always liked Stephanie, but this dress does not flatter her bodytype.

"Ouch", definitely. Trying to be kind here... the dress looks good on the model, who has a different body size/shape & can do "bare arms" well. The shoulders are too tight on Stéphanie , spoiling the overall effect of that lovely dress. The whole look ages her, although she looks great in that color. ~~Ruthie

What would you prefer "on her shape" in order not to be "ouch"?

    5. Anonymous7/6/26 18:56

I agree with "Ouch." The whole silhouette makes her look 20 years older. The dress top would look so much better with simpler lines, 3/4 sleeves that are roomy and less emphasis on her bosom. Why accent it right in the middle of those pleats? The color is lovely but the upper part of the dress would look nice if it were simpler. I think.

I don’t find this remotely ouch. This fitted bodice suits her arguably better than any flowing bodice, the colour is gorgeous, the skirt too. The only little change I would make is to cut the sleeve higher or lower - it’s just this length that seems to cut her arms off visually in the wrong place. Other than that, hair and accessories included, this is one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve seen Stephanie wear.

It’s an ouch for me too. Lovely dress, lovely GDS but not the combination. The top of the dress makes her look graveur than she probably is. And the dress somehow ages her a lot. I like the dress of the president’s wife but it’s too shiny for a daydress, no ?

  9. This is realy very bad on her, she looks so matronly, it hurts my eyes. She is such a beautiful woman she really need to do something about her shape. It is the only way to get things back together.

Iris, this is an ignorant comment. We cannot just ask people to “do something about their shape”. Heck. Each of us is born with the body we are born with, some fitting the cultural norm of the time, many or even most: not. She is a beautiful woman and I’m certain she cares for her body as well as any of us. And here she has chosen a beautiful dress and wears it well. Enough.

Stéphanie should know by now - or have advisors to tell her - what looks good on her & what doesn't. This dress does not look good on her. Better undergarments & clothes that fit her shape would be a big improvement, not just something that looks good on a thin model with different proportions. Apparently she's trying, but it's not working. ~~Ruthie

    4. Iris, you are so right, I was thinking the same thing that she looks so matronly. We are not being mean expressing our feelings. There are so many more dress that she could have chosen from, but I do not think that she has good fashion sense and does not know what looks good on her. It is a shame because she is such a lovely and pretty lady!!!

This is most definitely one of GDS better looks. The style and color is very flattering. Hair make-up and accessories are just as complementary.

The wonderful aspect of events in Luxembourg is the special feeling of joy that exudes from the participants. Both dresses are in lovely colours and in simple flattering silhouettes. Excellent.

Lovely colour and the fit is good. The blue dress is pretty and again good fit.
Perhaps different undergarment would give a better silhouette, however I like how she looks in pink.

Bright pink is a good color but the style/cut of the top of the dress is not flattering, and I mean on anyone, not specifically GDS. Paired with the hairstyle, she could easily pass for 80 years old. She’s such a beautiful young woman, I wish she would wear more modern clothes.

The Fold IS a modern brand. You can’t get much more modern. And no she couldn’t pass for 80?!!! She has beautiful young skin and a voluptuous body shape never seen in old age.

She needs to sack whoever is helping her select her wardrobe. Excellent color but the top of the dress looks matronly and wouldn’t look good on 90% of women. MR

She had other dresses in the past which made her look older than she is. No women of 80 years old can or should wear a dress like this, but Stéphanie still can. The models are all very young girls with skinny arms and you are focusing on them. Women who are very skinny are not looking good either in a dress like this. I prefer Stéphanie in a dress like this instead of the long floral dresses with long sleeves she sometimes where. These dresses look like beautiful night gowns and make her look older than she is. Contrary on some of you who find the dress of the president's wife good, well I don't. It is made of a stiff fabric (and I am sure it is not made at Natan). The lower part of the dress stands wide open which has an unnatural look. The sleeves are wrinkled and her hair is cut badly and looks very dry. One can always find something which is not right on every person.

Both ladies look great. I like the pink dress from the GD. I think this is a good color for her. The First lady of Portugal looks fantastic in pale blue.

These comments , which somewhat harsh, are being realistic. Stephanie has such a beautiful face and smile and she is still young. What would benefit her most is a good physical fitness trainer and a professional stylist. If I had her financial resources, I would hire them in a moment. I truly want her to shine in her new role.

  16. Positives - Beautiful gorgeous color. Pink shade suits the GD well.
I like this shaped neckline, across to the shoulder point.
Her shoe and clutch color I like.
Her diamond necklace is lovely, the pearl and diamond brooch is beautiful, but the pearl earrings are gorgeous.
Her up style hair is very flattering, and attractive.
In saying that - re: the jewels, Imo there is a disconnect between the earrings, and brooch even though the brooch has diamonds/pearls, same with the earrings, I like same for necklace, slight quibble. A single strand pearl necklace, or such like.
Shape of dress - I'm not sure the design of this dress, shape wise suits the GD.
I feel the overall look would have benefited from longer sleeves with this dress.
The First Lady, this dress is beautiful, the back view, oh the buttons are distinctive and adding interest to the back of this gown. The color is sublime, the fabric just gorgeous. The outline, design of this dress suits the First Lady's shape perfectly. Her earrings are of substance, modern. Her brooch, perfectly placed, another attractive jewel piece. The fabric of this dress is quite beautiful.

  20. A strong colour looks good on GD Stéphanie in almost all cases. This reception and luncheon for the Portuguese president and his wife is no exception. However, this is again a case of the Grandduchess missing the mark just for the breadth of a hair. Colour is not everything. The dress perhaps would have looked better on her with some sort of sleeves (well, I'm glad she didn't pair it with a shawl/wrap this time). I'm not entirely sure that the cut of the dress is the right one for her. Or going sleeveless, like I said. The pale blue silk number of Mrs. Seguro makes a simple, yet elegant impression.
