As a result of her life-threatening chronic lung disease, and following extensive medical examinations, Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been placed on the waiting list for a lung transplant in Norway. To be closer to her family, Princess Ingrid Alexandra has returned to Norway and will spend the autumn semester of 2026 as an exchange student at the University of Oslo while continuing her studies at the University of Sydney.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit have postponed the celebration of their silver wedding anniversary, originally planned for August 2026, and the Crown Princess will not take part in the county visit scheduled for September. The Crown Prince will adjust his programme in the period ahead to spend more time with the Crown Princess.
