Duchess Sophie's dress/coat is too dark and the skirt is too wide. Her hair is pulled back and attached with a couple of hairpins. The ladies she is greeting in the church are dressed better than she is.

Given that the Duchess was in Copenhagen with King Frederik in the morning for a meeting and then flew back for this event, she can be forgiven for a very full day and any less than perfect appearance.

    2. The bodice of the dress looks odd too. There are two pointy darts on her chest that a lopsided in the first photo. Not a good look. However, the dress looks fantastic on the model especially with the boots.

No the cost is not “too dark”! That’s a personal preference of yours, but it’s not a fact. It’s a lovely colour for Sophie in my opinion and factually, perfectly apt for this wicked cold wet snap across the UK. Her hair is perfectly fine, and completely acceptable. There is not need for perfectly coiffed hair by a professional. You are judging to some other non English standard. The ladies look charmed by Sophie and she fits in very well. As for the coat shape, it’s not “too wide”. Too wide for what? Which benchmark? It’s simply the designers style and Sophie’s choice. I think it looks great.

Funny there are many commenters who are thinking the same about the Duchess outfit. You are the only one who doesn't want to see that she is not looking attractive. I recognized you immediately because of your questions : "Too wide for what ? (this time) or before "Too long for whom ?" and "Which benchmark ?" If another royal lady's hair is not what the commenters like, everybody is writing their remarks. If Duchess Sophie's hair is not beautiful or well styled nobody has comments ? Of course if you always think that you rightt and all the other are wrong, I can only say you are living in a little narrow world where it is not allowed to look behind the horizon.

I love the deep indigo colour, and just the top half of this dress - the wide shirt lapels and the sleeves to be precise. I don't like the very flared skirt. Less flared would be much better.

  4. D’accord pour la robe-manteau jusqu’à la taille mais à mon avis, la jupe est trop longue et large pour sa morphologie !

Nice dress - but the skirt as usual too long and wide for the Duchess.

I like the dress. I think she did her hair herself. I like the purse and shoes just not with this dress.

I like dress too. The wide skirt gives some interest to what is a fairly basic shirt dress style. Where I think the outfit is lacking is the jewelry. Her earrings look quite drab. One of these days I’d love to see her wearing some beautiful rich blue sapphires, maybe larger studs surrounded by diamonds? (V.M.)

I adore this shape and colour on Sophie; for me it just needs a few bright and light accessories -- earrings, bag and shoes -- to "lift" it.
But the unexpected folds over the bust bothered me; it's something I have never seen before, and at first I thought that the bodice must be 2 sizes too large for Sophie, therefore creating unintentional folds. But, looking on the Palmer Harding website, these folds are a design feature of this season's collection.
The fold feature looks interesting on the models -- with their more angular figures and smaller busts, I see it creating a unique androgynous vibe. For Sophie, who has a more regular figure, the folds look accidental, as if the bust darts haven't been fitted correctly or finished. In short, I dont think this dress is right for Sophie. Lyra

  10. I love the Navy color. The dress does not look as good as it could, the idea is there, but the skirt of the dress is too large, overwhelms her frame. The dress is quite long for her height. The shoe and bag color I don't like.
