On May 8, 2026, Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan attended an event marking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Bhutan Red Cross Society. The Bhutan Red Cross Society was established under the Bhutan Red Cross Society Act 2016 as an autonomous, non-profit voluntary organization and serves as an auxiliary to the government in the humanitarian field. She also launched the BRCS Development Plan II for 2026–2030.
Since its establishment, the BRCS has been recognized as a National Society by the International Committee of the Red Cross and admitted to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The Queen has served as the President of the Bhutan Red Cross Society since its establishment.
