On April 10, 2026, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema, Prince Jigme Namgyel, and Prince Ugyen attended the opening of the 6th GMC Volunteer Programme at Gelephu Mindfulness City. The five-day programme, running from April 10 to 14, will see volunteers working across several sites within GMC.
Approximately 8,100 volunteers are participating in the programme, drawn from monasteries and religious communities, the general public, government ministries, dzongkhag administrations, and business enterprises. Among them, 157 Bhutanese nationals based in Australia have also joined the programme.
On April 11, 2026, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema, Prince Jigme Namgyel, Prince Ugyen, and Princess Sonam Yangden joined more than 8,100 volunteers working at various sites across Gelephu Mindfulness City on the second day of the 6th GMC Volunteer Programme, running from April 10 to 14.
