Princess Kako Attends the 35th Green Thanksgiving Ceremony
On May 9, 2026, Princess Kako of Japan attended the “35th Green Thanksgiving Ceremony” held at Iino Hall in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. Serving as honorary president of the event, Princess Kako interacted with several recipients of the Green Culture Award, including master temple carpenter Mitsuo Ogawa, prior to the ceremony.Princess Kako also spoke with junior high and high school students who received awards for their original artwork created for wildfire prevention posters, asking them about the ideas and themes behind their works. Nanami Wada received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award in the junior high school division.May 4 is Greenery Day, a Japanese public holiday. The period from April 15 to May 14 is also designated as Greenery Month, during which various events focusing on greenery and forests are held throughout Japan. In Tokyo, the Green Thanksgiving Ceremony is traditionally attended by a member of the Imperial Family of Japan.

I love love love this idea: “ May 4 is Greenery Day, a Japanese public holiday” … shouldn’t every country also celebrate this most important health giving joy giving reason? Her dress is cute for the occasion. I think on many the black trim could be too harsh but it suits her excellently. I could also imagine Mary and Catherine in this (although no doubt they would wear their extremely high stilettos which are not beautiful in my practical podiatrist eyes!).
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteWhat a lovely princess. Smiling, chic, open and friendly, interested in those she meets. A real star and ambassador for the Imperial family and her country.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, she is!
DeleteCompletely agree that she is a star! And she is dressed beautifully in this floral. The cut and colors are perfect on her and the black accents at the neck, waist, and hem keep it fresh and modern.
DeleteLove the dress a little more delicate shoe would’ve looked stunning.
ReplyDeleteYes that was the first thing I thought, she is swimming in her shoes
DeleteThis dress is gorgeous. The design and floral print are sublime and very feminine. I think I have see this dress before on Kako or another royal but I can't remember. It looks familiar.
ReplyDeleteGoogle provides photos showing Kako wearing this same dress during her visit to Brazil in June 2025. I also remember seeing this beautiful dress on her & I am happy to see her in it again; it's beautiful & she looks lovely in it! The black around the bottom hem is very interesting & ties the whole dress together. ~~Ruthie
DeleteGorgeous. Obviously the fashionista in the Japanese Imperial Family.
ReplyDeleteJe suis ravie de voir la princesse Kako qui sait bien représenter la famille impériale vêtue de cette robe imprimée fleurie qu’elle a déjà portée ; toujours adorable !
ReplyDeleteUgh she is just so adorable.
ReplyDeleteThis princess is just so cute - everything about her beams happiness!
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks to be silk, looking beautiful, pretty and elegant style and shape, suiting her beautifully. She looks lovely here. The Princess is very impressive, always the same, engaging, happy and actively involved.
