Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako attend the ceremony of the 76th National Tree Planting Festival

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan visited Ehime Prefecture to attend the ceremony of the 76th National Tree Planting Festival and to conduct an inspection tour of local conditions. The National Tree Planting Festival has been held since 1950 as a central event of the national greening movement.

Prior to the ceremony, the Emperor and Empress visited Nagahama Aquarium in Ozu, where they met members of the Nagahama High School Aquarium Club. They later met recipients of the Greenery Contribution Awards at the ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Matsuyama in Ehime.
