On May 14, 2026, the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Anne attended the opening day of the 2026 Royal Windsor Horse Show at Windsor Castle. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh serve as President and Vice Presidents of the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The Duke and Duchess’s daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, is one of the organizers of this year’s event. On Saturday, Lady Louise will also compete in a carriage-driving competition.

    Fabulous coat on the Princess Royal! Is it new?? Fits like a glove. And the boots seem to be completely tassel-free. I am enchanted! She looks marvellous. Cannot say the same about Duchess Sophie.

      Sophie isn’t wearing clothes I’d choose but they are very horsey and English country fair and completely appropriate.

      @22:14: Horsey? :-)) - in my vocabulary it is drab. And of course, drab can be completely appropriate, why not. Only not pretty or attractive or inspiring or pleasant to look at. That's all.

    Love the photo of Princess Anne! Both ladies are dressed for the occasion. It must have been chilly to need wool and tweed!

    The Princess Royal looks wonderful. I love the black accessories, gloves, bag and boots, clearly blending with the black cuff of her pockets, I love this clever addition. This coat looks to be wool, very warm. Its a great style and fit, good length for the Princess Royal. I love the choice of her horse brooch.
    The Duchess looks casual yet smart, the jacket also here appears warm, must have been on the cool side. The pants, fit well, good length and blend in well with the jacket and her short boots.

    Par ce temps un peu frais, la princesse Anne est superbe dans ce manteau qui semble nouveau ; la veste de Sophie légèrement cintrée est tout à fait à mon goût surtout qu’elle la porte avec un pantalon en velours !

    I'd say that this is the epitome of how I always imagine British ladies to dress for a day out with, or around, "hound and horse". On such occasions, I always wish that I would still be living in the UK's countryside. Which I don't, sadly.

    It must be on the cool side. Like Pss Annes coat. The DoE's look is OK.
