On April 25, 2026, the Princess of Wales attended the wreath-laying ceremony and parade as part of the Anzac Day commemorations at the Cenotaph in London. Representing the King, she laid a wreath to commemorate the 1915 Gallipoli landings of Australian and New Zealand troops. The Princess of Wales then attended a service of commemoration and thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey in London.
Anzac Day (ANZAC: Australia and New Zealand Army Corps) is a national day of remembrance that marks the Gallipoli landings of April 1915—the first major campaign involving Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War, which resulted in significant casualties.
Alexander McQueen Coat

Alexander Mcqueen by Sarah Burton, they know her style so well, the tailoring is pure perfection! Haute Couture 😍
ReplyDeleteThis navy blue is better than the grey one of a different amateur designer she wore during Nigerian state visit
https://www.newmyroyals.com/2026/03/king-charles-and-queen-camilla-host.html?m=1
It reminds me of the grey one but I don't think it's any better or worse. This hat I really don't like. The look is her. It's fine to me. She does look a little different I've seen others comment but it's just the makeup. Blush and eyeshadow. I think so.
DeleteJust saying: The Princess Royal was out and about for Anzac Day too, but it was the Anzac Day Dawn Service, very early in the morning. She had a nice green coat on and a pretty hat.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was thinking as well.
DeleteThe Princess Royal looked so beautiful and very dignified.
DeleteThis is a beautiful coat dress - but I am waiting all the time that this silly long skirt fashion disappears, together with every other fabric wasting fashion uglinesses like overly wide trousers wiping the the floor. Women should protest instead of blindly following ...
ReplyDeleteI don’t think long hemlines silly! I think they are a feminine and elegant style choice. I don’t think that those who love longer skirts are blindly following, I think they enjoy the look. I know I do.
DeleteI think this is a her go to style for the rest of her Royalty. It happens when women reach this time of life, they know who they are.
DeleteWe have seen this with other Royals too;
Victoria of Sweden with the bun style.
Charlene with the suits.
Maxima with the loud colors!
Longer skirts can be elegant on thin and tall women. The same for wide and longer skirts. Fashionwise shorter skirts and dresses (not mini) are in again. It is up to the lady who must wear it to see what is best for her morphology. Therefore comparing with other royal ladies is not necessary. To each their own preferences.
DeleteThe long navy coat/dress Princess Catherine is wearing here is not very well cut. The skirt part of the coat is not falling good. I have the impression that the front part of the coat is too narrow. The fabric is pulling around the single button. The shoulders are too wide and too pointy, but that is typical for Alexander McQueen coats and jackets.
Since this is a fashion blog, we should be allowed to state our opinions on the clothes and not what the wearer likes or prefers or feels comfortable in. I personally don't like these long and straight skirts/ dresses and coat's and I wish they were on their way out along with these sky-high thin heels. less length would be much more flattering for tall and thin women like the POW,
DeleteI prefer her wearing the longer hemlines than back in the early days when she was wearing her dresses and skirts way too short - especially when she was pregnant with George. She has great legs but that doesn't mean we need to see all of them all the time. I think this hemline during colder/chillie weather is fine and a hemline hitting just across the need the rest of the year.
DeleteThe white lapels and double breasted buttons make this coat dress feel straight out of the ‘80s. The fit is good but I personally think it’s very aging because the style is so outdated.
ReplyDeleteEven if we shared your opinion about the style being 80's (I don't): why is 80's style ageing anyone? I simply don't understand what is ageing about a style that looks good on somebody? and why are white lapels and double breasted buttons out of the 80's?
DeleteNot outdated, but like so many things in fashion, a style coming back round again. “Very aging” is inaccurate.
DeleteAgree !!
DeleteAgree !!
DeleteIt looks very dated to me as well. I don't think it's coming back around. It's mostly royal ladies that wear this and she in particular likes this style. That's fine. I'm not a fan but I don't have to wear it.People have different opinions and they are entitled to them. "We" don't have to share them.
DeleteTIMELESS CLASSIC!!
DeleteI agree with Anonymous 22:40.
DeleteReminds me of Marry Poppins.
DeleteI find the white lapels too severe and pointy and would prefer a softer look.
DeletePrincess Diana wore similar styles in the 80 's ,mostly very flattering and sometimes a bit too much. The lengths were shorter which looked nicer.
What goes around comes around and with slight variations , in the 80's very pretty low heels shoes were worn , that was nice, hope they make a comeback soon!
Perfectly dressed for this occasion!
ReplyDeleteYes, very elegant.
DeleteThis coat looks very nice on her, the white collar breaks up the long column look.
ReplyDeleteHair would look nicer shorten to a bit longer than shoulder length like she used to have it. I know it is her choice but it is not a becoming accessory at this length imo
ReplyDeleteVery stylish and royal, isn’t she? I love the length of the coat which is extremely elegant. Thank you Catherine for honouring our Aussie and Kiwi soldiers after such horrific events. Those soldiers in WWI at Gallipoli lived in hell ( as no doubt did the Turkish whose land they were commanded to invade).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely regal!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!
DeleteMeravigliosa Catherine ❤️ per me la vera regina
ReplyDeleteA slightly shorter length would have been even better. It is typical McQueen, even with a new artistic director. It works for her and for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteKate like Sophie tends to wear over long skirts and dresses. that are unflattering. Maybe it's a requirement for the Windsor family.
DeleteI agree.
DeleteI think they just like them. The POW wore short skirts and dresses pretty regularly when the Queen was alive but she's older and in a different role so I guess she naturally dresses a little different. I'm not a fan of the overly long coat dresses but it's clear she likes them. I think you go with what you like and what's comfortable.
DeleteI think they wear longer because there have been mishaps, either bending over or wind catching a skirt , revealing the thigh or more
DeleteThe longer skirt length is perfect for this occasion. The POW had to kneel deeply to place the wreath at the Cenotaph. She later bent down to talk to children at the Abbey service. No wardrobe malfunctions for this lovely Princess.
DeleteThe Princess of Wales has only recently moved to these much longer skirts. At least with her lovely shoes she can carry this off, but while undoubtedly elegant and appropriate for the occasion, it’s not one of her best looks imo
Delete“Over long skirts” … over, from whose measurement? I think many people love longer hemlines and fashion has enough variations for us to find what we enjoy. I too love longer hemlines. I find them very feminine and easy to wear and elegant.
Delete@07:25, "over long, why?" Over long, not for you, but for many people, for me, because it lets just the thinnest part of a woman's leg peek out. IMHO, it simply does not look so good as either: ending just under the knee or just a bit more longer, or: real maxi, showing maybe a bit of the ankle. But this length is awkward, because it shows just two very thin "pins", on every woman, not only on Catherine, who is thin. Somehow, it is about proportions, like with sleeves, 3/4 sleeve ending in the middle of the forearm is nice, but ending just above the wrist can be awkward, like "one size too small". So this skirt length is, for me, one size too short or too long, but not quite right :-)
DeleteOnce again, I am not one liking to compare one woman to another, still I have to admit that height and measurements matter when choosing an outfit like this.
DeleteI find general rules out of place, it is all about what a woman can/ wants to wear and what her figure allows her to do.
I personally like wearing both short and long hems.
(If I weren't 1,77 cm myself, I don't think I would every opt for long ones).
The latter suit tall and slim women and the Princess of Wales is no exception.
This suit is not for everyone and not for every body type.
It also requires high heels and they are not for everyone either.
P. Catherine looks fabulously and appropriately attired for the occasion imo.
Absolutely perfect look for a very special and somber occasion. I know this is a tried and true style but the elegance of this style is perfect for Catherine.
ReplyDeleteJanet
The style of Catherine’s coat, with the white collar, reminds me of 1980s fashion. It is not my favorite. Nonetheless, she looks appropriately attired and well groomed for the occasion. It is good to see Catherine undertaking events such as this solo - she has grown (and continues to grow) into her role as the Princess of Wales and appears poised and confident.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
Pour cette occasion, très bon choix que cette robe-manteau qui épouse à merveille sa silhouette élancée !
ReplyDeleteWell nice to see them out today for Anzac Day. I don't remember who attended last year but I think Princess Anne attended the Dawn service this year and last. Not much to write home about fashion wise. Not the point. She went with what works for her. The long coat dress. Hate that hat.
ReplyDeleteMoi ce n’est pas la tenue qui me dérange mais sa trop longue chevelure qui comporte sûrement des extensions tel que vu sur un autre site. Josée.
ReplyDeleteThere’s somber and then there’s over the top dramatic.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is nice but it's her hat that I really like. These kind of chapeaux, as opposed to the flying saucer ones - suit her better. They allow the viewer's focus to rest on her beautiful face.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
I totally agree. They look better on her
DeletePrincess Anne looked lovely in her green coat, and her hat was worn at an angle like the Australians soldiers. Kudos to her for being there at first light,
ReplyDeleteElegant but absolutely boring look. The princess really needs some fresh air in her style.
ReplyDeleteI do l love Maxima's brave style, it's not flattering always, but colourful, exciting, youthful and funny. Catherine could use this point of view with her style. A big no for her ALWAYS safe choices.
This lady is a future queen. Not a fashion- influencer.
Delete@07:02, I understand you prefer more excitement and amusement, even at the cost of occasional failures and missteps. But unfortunately, this is something a Tiktok influencer keen to collect more clicks could deliver. Not a proper goal for a princess or a queen. Maybe those who seek this kind of excitement are just not quite right in a royal blog. By the way, define "youthful choices" as opposed to "safe choices". Won't be easy, because, sorry, it is pure nonsense.
Delete@ 07:02
DeleteWhen Queen Maxima is dressed for the ceremonials remembering WWII in The Netherlands she is dressed appropriately too. She has beautiful black clothes and hats and looks stylish and regal too.
@ 08:27 Queen Maxima must not dress as a future queen she is already a queen. @ 07:02 If you wish to compare both royal ladies you must do it during similar circumstances.
Princess Catherine must dress herself like she thinks it is the best. I hope later on when she will be an older lady herself, she won't regret that she didn't dressed in a younger style when she was still younger herself.
@ 08:27 A queen, princess, actress, singer, athlete, etc....are women who are visible on TV, internet, newspapers, magazines, etc... Automatically they are influencers, women will always try to copy them.
It is known that the British are thinking their royals are better (dressed) and are more regal than the rest of the European nobility.
It is normal that the rest of the European nobility have always took the French fashion as an example (in the old days). Later on Italian design was followed as well. When average people started to go more and more on holiday to Spain they brought fashion articles with them like shoes, handbags, jackets, .... all made of leather because in those days leather clothes and shoes were much cheaper in countries like Spain and Italy, but also sports- and swim- and beachwear.
I do not find English fashion attractive myself. I always find (as a civilian) what I need among the European brands. In the meantime almost every European fashion brand (and I mean also German, Danish, Dutch and Belgian fashion) is of good quality and can be worn for a long time.
Dear 7:02, I am sorry that my clothes are boring you. I was just trying my best to do my job, and maintain some of my own personality in my choices, whilst also recovering my health and tending to my young family. I will try to change to please you from now on. - yours obediently, Catherine, Princess of Wales
DeleteThe Navy coatdress with white lapels looks superb. This style suits her shape perfectly, she has the height to wear this beautifully. The blue accessories, shoes and gorgeous bag looks fabulous. I love the Sapphire and diamond earrings, but I do not like the contrasting stone necklace with these earrings.
ReplyDeleteExcuse my tardiness, but I forgot to add -- Lest We Forget x
DeleteHas Kate Middleton borrowed the coat from her mother-in-law, the late Lady Diana?
ReplyDelete@08:01, what a thoroughly stupid comment, topped by you "forgetting" what her name is. She married, you know, William, and she does not use her maiden name any more. But I forget, you have a purpose here posting something like this and sure now you feel better having dropped a little toxic piece of ... nothingness.
DeleteOh please let the dear lady rest in peace
DeleteAl met al een harde uitstraling, heel somber, en weer zo'n gek hoedje...
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteAbout "old fashioned", "80's" et cetera: The Princess will never totally follow recognizably newest fashion because exactly then, she would look old-fashioned in a couple of years, when people look at her photos in ehibitions - or anywhere in the media. Those who expect actual fashion are somehow not quite right in a royal fashion blog. She dresses in a classical way, just taking one or the other feature from actual fashion, like the length. But a dress like this, with white lapels, is simply classic, could have been worn any time in the last 100 years. Saying that this "ages her" is simply misunderstanding royal fashion or confuse "fashionable" with "young" (or vice versa). By the way, Catherine is in her 45th year, not exactly very young, but being beautiful is also not to be confused with being young.
ReplyDeleteIf it looks dated now then it will likely look dated further in the future. This style isn't classic it's 80's inspired.
Delete@07.02 - `boring`! The PoW looks elegant in a beautifully tailored coat which is more than appropriate for the ocassion. As for `Maxima`s brave style`- IMO she has no style but poor fashion choices often to be the centre of attention and your `bold` to me is cheap.
ReplyDelete@03:18 -`excessively long hair` , that is your opinion not a fact . At least her hair is always presented as clean, glossy and well kept showing respect towards those she is meeting, unlike Q. Maxima whose hair only looks decent when wearing a wig!
@10:23, do we really have to compare? and do we really have to misbehave stating we *know* what a Queen is wearing on her head? I find this wig-thing so very disappointing ... anyone can voice dislike about her hairstyle (or not having one), but please stop this very intrusive and in a way body-shaming statements.
DeleteGross! Maxima is Queen and out and about regularly she doesn't have nearly as much time as the POW to worry about hair and clothes. Looking at the POW I don't believe she obsesses over either. I hope not!
Delete@ Anonymous 21:59
DeleteSorry, I disagree about Queen Maxima not having nearly as much time as the Princess of Wales.
Let's not forget three basic points:
1.The two ladies hold different titles: Maxima has to carry off specific engagements related to her top job and she is married to a Head of State as well, , whereas P.Catherine has her own schedule of royal duties, some of which performed on behalf of the King.
2. Maxima has to work twice or more as much given that the Dutch Royal Family cannot rely on the same number of working royals as those found in the British Royal Family.
3. Last but not least, actually the most important point of all: thankfully, Maxima can count on her good health and this allows her to be out and about regularly and even to fly abroad on long- haul routes.
Unfortunately, we all know what Catherine has been through and she surely can't shoulder such a conspicous number of engagements at home and abroad.
Let's be honest: comparing these two ladies is absolutely unfair and not realistic.
In addition, I am struggling to understand why some people tend to favour all these comparisons.
Every human- royal or not- is unique and has his / her own personality, figure and individual life story.
@08.58 - well said!!!
ReplyDeleteI like everything except the hat.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the proportions with this extremely long hair and skirts. But that is personal taste , I think it makes her look so thin.
ReplyDeleteClassy look for the PoW at the ANZAC memorial service. Always in style.
ReplyDeletecss
Where is that come from ? Comparing 2 totally different royal ladies Queen Maxima and Princess Catherine ?
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't like is the fact that the British are thinking that their royals are better than other royals and that they are dressed better. They have their style and that is O.K., but the royals on the continent have their style too. They have access to fashion houses like Dior, Chanel, Armani and so many more. They sometimes buy a dress from Jenny Packham too. What I do like is the freedom of choice among the European royals. They are also trying sometimes new and young designers. Sometimes they look gorgeous in new designs and sometimes it doesn't work. But it is never boring. It is not true that Queen Maxima is wearing a wig. She uses hair extensions, hair pieces to make beautiful up do's, etc... when necessary. Unfortunately her own hair is not of a good quality. Not every woman is lucky to have natural hair of good quality.
There is one thing Princess Catherine and Queen Maxima have in common : they both are using too much make-up, especially the very dark eye shadow....
What an interesting and unusual hat; I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like it. It is quite attractive. As for an alleged “80s vibe” I don’t know about that…my 80s memory is of the ravishingly feminine poufy sleeves and froufrou made popular during Princess Diana’s David & Elizabeth Emanuel period (which I rather miss 😁, although I thought the wedding dress was way too much of a good thing). Catherine’s outfit here is much more in a severe 1940s style, and certainly on point for a somber occasion.
ReplyDelete@04:22- thank you for noting what '80's fashion was like, from comments made here I think few really know.
ReplyDelete@17:13 and @02:09 make lengthy comments full of inaccuracies, nonesense and assumptions rather than fact. It would appear that many commentators do not realise that the UK is in Europe!
I doubt any RF thinks they are better than another, that is such a petty and immature attitude.
@17:13 and 02:09 - the Princess of Wales was wearing a Givenchy (French) coat and Rossi (Italian) shoes! Q.Camilla often favours Dior!!
