  1. Allure parfaite dans ces blazer aux couleurs douces portés avec un pantalon noir ; j’aime voir l’empereur sans cravate !

Princess Aiko’s wide-leg pants look messy, in the photo 2, because it was windy across Japan today.

The hair style for Aiko is perfect for her, frames her face nicely. The only think I would add for her overall look is a pop of colour otherwise lovely outfit.

  4. Both the blazer and pants are way too big and baggy for Aiko. The light peach colour is also a bit dull. I like the fit and lovely blue colour of Masako's blazer.

Princess Aiko's jacket is so baggy on her.

Aiko's jacket is clearly oversized, but that is not the same as baggy. The shoulders are where they should be, but the whole jacket is more "airy" about the body, not following the contours. Masako's jacket is not really different, what *is* different, is Masako's posture which is better an straighter than that of her daughter. That makes a difference. I like the peachy-rosy beige pastel colour on her, goes better with her complexion than e.g. a cool blue colour. Could be a bit more rosy.

Old-fashioned, oversized jackets, clothes in the style of our pensioners who have lost weight and are sorry to throw away an expensive jacket. The same goes for trousers.

@Stephanie, being so openly condescending makes your comment more than just hurtful, it is an unpleasant read. You look down on their meticulous, conscious and very much thought over fashion choices as if you were someone who undisputably knew it better. Quite ridiculous.

I'm sorry if my words offended anyone, but this is exactly how my seventy-year-old aunt was dressed, until she admitted that her jacket was too loose after losing weight. I admit, I hesitated a little whether to be honest in my fashion opinion or to wrap it in some correct phrases. But today's time needs honesty and diversity of opinions. That doesn't change the fact that Princess Aiko looks like a nice and likeable girl.

That was harsh, Stephanie. But hey, perhaps you were describing your own life, you have told us that you are a grandma.

To Anon 07:32 No, I'm not a grandma, I'm still a long way from senior age. Steph.

Easy dressing pant and a blazer. Mother and daughter look fine.

  9. The pale blue jacket looks smart and stylish, love the addition of the colorful silk scarf, combined that with her black pants, lovely combination. I love the Navy clutch. Princess Aiko looks lovely, happy and engaging. Love her hair styled in this way, suits her shorter.

Thank you for mentioning the full bloom of cherry trees in Fukushima during this visit - and the fine association between their colour and the colour of Aiko's jacket.

      素敵なコメントです。
      あのジャケットの淡くくすんだピンクは、まさに桜色ですね。
      福島は本当に見事な桜の名所がたくさんありますから、今回、天皇御一家がそれらを楽しまれるチャンスがあることを願います。

From Joann - Actually I don't see anything wrong with the way they are dressed. Their outfits don't look to me like tailored pants suits. They are wearing jackets over slacks - maybe the climate was cool. Princess Aiko seems to be wearing a sweater under hers. Also, they might just prefer something a little less fitting. I know myself I don't like close fitting clothes when I'm cold.

Very sharp-eyed good observation, Joann, about the outfits being jackets over slacks, as opposed to tailored pant suits - this really does make a difference.

The idea of both pant suits is O.K. But they are not fitting.
    1. Empress Masako
The light blue jacket is lovely, but it is too long for the Empress. She is rather short and a long jacket on a short person is not looking good. The trousers seem to fit better than Princess Aiko's. I cannot see what shoes the Empress is wearing but at first glimp they seem to have an odd shape.
    2. Princess Aiko
The jacket is much too wide, wider than the light blue one of the Empress. It is also a bit too long since the Princess has about the same height as the Empress. I know wide jackets are fashion but it doesn't suit everyone. Only long slim women are looking good in it.The color is "old pink" . This is how people call this color in my country. I prefer brighter pink colors, especially for Princess Aiko who has a rather pale face. Maybe she should use a bit of blush on her cheek. There are such beautiful colors these days : light pink, apricot and peach colors for the spring and summer. Lucky the black trousers are not too wide but, the length of Princess Aiko's trousers look not even. Photos 4 & 6. On her feet she seems to wear ballerina's which have an odd shape. She looks so much better with this hairstyle. It is still long enough to wear a tiara.
