On April 21, 2026, Queen Máxima received Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague. The visit follows their previous meeting during Queen Máxima’s economic working visit to California and Texas in 2022. First Lady Cecilia Abbott is leading an international trade mission together with Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson.
In addition to the Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott, the meeting at Huis ten Bosch Palace was also attended by Christine Popolo, the spouse of the U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of the Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office, and Jane Nelson, Secretary of State of Texas.

Máxima looks very nice; perhaps she's in Argentinian Autumn. People wear what they like. And... there are 5 months of upcoming Spring & Summer for you to enjoy more colorful outfits. On the other hand, I recall a few years ago when a royal lady wore a pink dress in Winter & some commenters on here were in a pandemonium over that. ~~Ruthie

I personally like to wear a bit of color in Winter rather than just drab and dark colors.

Then Crown Princess Mary @ the time visited the Abbotts when she visited Texas. Mary studied in Texas for a while!

ردحذفCecilia Abbot's frock is gorgeous. It's a design by female American fashion designer Ricki Freeman, and the full length version is in a Texan fashion museum. Queen Mary wore the full-length version (with a different neckline) just this year at Denmark's New Year Reception, and also on 2 previous occasions. Arguably Ms Abbot's shorter version is still too formal for a daytime meeting...but I don't mind, as it looks so impressive within the interior of a palace. Lyra

ردحذفThe ladies in the photo are all so smartly and stylishly dressed, some really wonderful outfits here. I cannot pick one out, I like each outfit. The First lady really looks smashing. I prefer the black blouse as opposed to the last wear of the outfit by the Queen.

ردحذف8:20 where do you live I wonder? In Europe, temperatures vary a lot in spring. It’s very common that we wear winter and summer clothes in the same week and even the same day. It’s normal here and not really something you can criticise.
حذفI agree with 15:57. Today it was a very beautiful spring day with lots of sun and a blue sky but the NorthEast wind was not warm at all. The max. t° was 17 degrees Celsius but out of the sunshine it was only 15°. I can understand why Queen Maxima is wearing a woolen skirt and a sweater. And yes maybe the heating system in Huis ten Bosch was not on maximum any more, like in many houses. In a castle the temperature is never very hot. It is much easier to warm up a house or an appartement than a castle. Many people are also thinking about the price of the heating we will have to pay in the future. Therefore they are turning the heating a bit lower already.
