On April 7, 2026, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands met with European Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union, Maria Luís Albuquerque, in Brussels, to discuss financial health. The EU Commission has developed a strategy for financial literacy aimed at improving the financial well-being of citizens in the EU.

The purpose of the April 7 meeting is to explore how the efforts of the EU and those of Queen Máxima—in her role as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health and as honorary chair of the Money Wise Platform and the Financially Healthy Netherlands Foundation—can reinforce each other.

Last year, the European Commission launched the Financial Literacy Strategy to improve knowledge of financial matters and strengthen the financial resilience of EU citizens. Building on this, the Commission recently established a network of ambassadors committed to promoting financial literacy in EU countries. Queen Máxima, in her capacity as honorary chair of the Money Wise Platform, is one of these ambassadors.

Oops that fabric does not work with the wide pants. Jacket is a nice fit and colour. Not the best look.
