On April 28, 2026, Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the exhibition “Mary of Hungary: Art and Power during the Renaissance” at the Domain and Royal Museum of Mariemont. The exhibition features more than 40 works from museums and private collections, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, manuscripts, and pieces of goldsmithery. It is part of Europalia España and runs until May 10.
Natan Josie Dress
I like the fabric of the queen's dress but I feel the tailoring of the bodice area, especially, is lacking in attention to her body shape. For a designer to ignore that a human body has shape and that heavy fabric needs some darts and seams to make it fit is lacking in basic construction details.
ردحذفIt is a Natan and that is how they design , front and back sewn together, let the fabric fall as it may. Minimal seems. I think it works okay for this dress
حذفI don't think she is buying items tailored for her. His designs are based on some standard measurements. But in this case I see no reasons to complain. It is fashion design.

حذفYou have Natan and you have Natan couture. Natan is the ready to wear collection of the house and Natan couture is a dress or coat or whatever from the Natan collection made according the measurements of the client. Queen Mathilde buys both I think, but more Natan couture. You must not forget that the queen is very tall. In the ready to wear collection the dresses are probably too short for the queen.
That’s a very beautiful dress. The neckline is quite unusual and beautiful. This handbag is not to my taste, the padded look à la Chanel simply looks overpriced to my eyes, but its colour and coordinating shoes pair very well.

حذفIt is the Lady Dior. Named after the house of Dior had created a bag for Lady Diana. Since then the Lady Dior is part of the handbag collection of Dior. It can be bought in 2 different sizes. It has nothing to do with Chanel. CP Elisabeth has the smaller size in white. I like both sizes and the burgundy bag is new since last year. The bag Queen Mathilde is wearing on the last picture is also by Dior and the color is pale pink/nude. The price is not a problem for Queen Mathilde since she is a good client "Chez Dior". She has several outfits of this traditional fashion house. They probably can give her a percentage now and then on the clothes, shoes and handbags she buys from that brand.
I love reading all the comments because sometimes they can be exactly what I think and sometimes the complete opposite…and that’s good! In this instance, I love the bag and shoes on the Queen but not so much the dress. IMO this red tone and pattern focused on the bottom is not the most flattering. Glad to have such diverse opinions on the fashion!

ردحذفQueen Mathilde's dress is a rewear from 2022. She wore this dress for the first time during an official visit together with King Philippe to Rheinland Pfalz (Germany). She wore the dress with a white jacket and a head band made in the same fabric as the dress (3 last pictures). I like her in this dress style. It has a good length and the boat neck suits QM well.

ردحذفBeautiful fabric and pattern. Not sure of the fit overall but she looks wonderful. The shoes, bag perfect color, well co ordinated. Her hair looks well styled, very attractive. Love her pearl earrings.
