On April 25, 2026, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, attended the Dawn Service at Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner, in London to mark Anzac Day. The service commemorates Australian and New Zealand military personnel, originally those of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served in the Gallipoli Campaign of the First World War.

The princess is dressed perfectly for the occasion. Great colour coat and hat, it is a shame that she and this ceremony is eclipsed by the afternoon one. Her posture is perfect.
ReplyDeleteYes agree, and thank you for mentioning this. Her appearance here is very much appreciated.
DeleteCan anyone work out the wreath (and the same used by Catherine, with a few extra flowers). Is it plastic poppies at the top then some real flowers at the bottom? It looks so light I’m worried it will be blown away. Interesting not to use live flowers for the whole thing. Maybe reusable?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coat (and maybe the green is a reference to Australia) with perfect black accessories and the hat style works well on the PR. Great outfit
ReplyDeleteFor me, she looks not only solemn but really very good in this coat and the hat complements it beautifully. Not to mention her excellent posture and fitness, noticeable in the way she is moving. I read elsewhere that the brooch on her coat is noted to have been seen 1969, i.e. 57 years ago, so it must be one of her oldest jewelry pieces. - (Now let's see if anybody finds that her choice of clothing ages her :-))).
ReplyDeleteShe has a decorum not seen often enough, very classy lady.
DeleteAnne looks dignified and exquisitely poised, as always. I like the shape of the sleeves and the buttons on them on her coat.

What a dignified Lady.
ReplyDeleteTrès bon choix que le manteau vert avec cet élégant chapeau qui complète à merveille sa tenue pour l’occasion !
ReplyDeleteThe poppies bramen a symbol ofvthe 1st world war cause at the battlefields of Flanders grew lots of poppies after the war. Plastic cause of sustainability reasons, you can re-use them, practical
ReplyDeleteReal poppies are very delicate field flowers who have a short life once they are taken to put in a vase. The flowers were in the fields before the war started and not only in Flanders. Where I live in Brabant there are also poppies each year in the fields. The problem is that the fields are disappearing slowely but surely to make place for social housing, like little houses and/or appartements for people who cannot pay the normal rent which is asked today.
DeleteThe plastic poppies in the wreaths I see each year are not looking like real poppies. The real ones have a colour between red and orange. Maybe the real ones which can be bought in the flower shops are growing artificially in green houses. In Belgium I never saw real poppies in the flower shops. It is also a custom in the U.K. to wear a poppy on the lapel of your jacket or coat. Lately we see this custom around 11 November in Belgium too but only worn by the officials during the ceremonies at the cimetries where British and Belgian soldiers are burried. Averag people are not familiar with this custom.
Always duty first. I love her commitment to honor the fallen. Let us not forget ever. I like her green coat it is timeless.

Beautiful coat and wonderful for this event. She is so reverent and dignified. We lost so many souls in the Gallipoli Campaign of the First World War. Lest We Forget.
ReplyDeleteHer hat remembers me those worn by the forest watchers in my country and in other European forests. Apparently she took over the habit of Queen Camilla to wear high winter boots during spring. Queen Camilla did her best lately, she skipped the boots early this year.
ReplyDelete@07:09, You don't like boots - I don't have any problem with them - being worn in a chilly April morning at 5 am with a long coat. Context is everything, comparisons with Camilla do not have to make sense. Personal preferences re boots being inferior to shoes are not really something relevant for everybody.
Delete7:09 it’s a dawn service in English spring. Boots are entirely appropriate for any time you want a bit of warmth or you enjoy wearing them. They are not seasonally bound. Or maybe they are where you live? Besides, they look great with a woollen coat and such a hat.
DeletePrincess Anne does not need queen consort Camilla as an example. It can be very cold in spring and boots are often the best choice. Yes, thankfully Camilla skipped her unbecoming boots recently when they were not really necessary, especially indoors.

The boots are a good choice given that it is dawn, standing on cement in April. They go well with her coat length
DeleteThis is how you honor heroes, P Anne does not call attention to herself, she quietly and humbly bows her head out of respect and gratitude, pure class. Tem
