King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are undertaking a working visit to the United States from April 13 to 15, 2026. On the evening of April 13, 2026, the King and Queen attended a dinner at the White House in Washington at the invitation of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. Prime Minister Jetten also attended the dinner. For the occasion, Queen Máxima wore a new orange dress by Claes Iversen.

Wowza, two beautiful elegant women. Máxima (with the help of excellent Claes Iversen) succeeds to be both at the same time: simple and extraordinary. I don't *really* like what the First Lady is wearing, but she looks nevertheless great in it.
ردحذفI agree with you. Both ladies look great. I love Queen Maxima’s dress, the style, the length and, of course, the Dutch national colour which suits her so well. Melanie looks stunning but I’m not a fan of the asymmetric black pattern. Both ladies tend to tower over other females so it’s good to see them together.

Usually, she seems to wear a vibrant, bright orange rather than this palette of “Presidential Orange” foundation make up I know she was dressing down for a working trip, but I wish she woulda brought the bling. ~J

Since Washington, D.C. is in the midst of a heat wave (highs in the high 80s / low 90sF), I would say the First Lady’s choice is extremely apt. And for a Queen of the House of Orange, likewise for HM Q Maxima.
حذفMaxima looks fabulous in this burnt orange dress. The draping of fabric from the shoulder into a side flounce is spectacular and dramatic but not ostentatious. She stands in sharp contrast to Melania whose dress is hard on the eyes. The haphazard pattern of the black embroidery or whatever it is just doesn't look attractive IMHO. If I had to look at it for longer than a few minutes I would get dizzy.

حذفI cannot see on these photos which color she has on her finger nails. I don't think I would like an orange color on my fingernails and so is Queen Maxima. Usually she is wearing very dark burgundy or she is wearing colorless nail lacquer or transparent white nail lacquer. These colors have become classics. Many ladies are wearing them because they usually match most of the colors of their outfit.
I would absolutely love Maxima's dress in a different color, envisioning a coral pink. She looks slim and her hair is beautiful, doesn't matter whose hair it is.

I wasn’t sure I completely liked Mrs. Trump’s dress - the black design is a bit much - but looking at the pictures more, it does coordinate nicely with the white exterior of The White House and the black stair railing.

QM stunning dress has me in mind of a similar dress worn by Mrs Trump a few years back. She wore an emerald green by Herve Pierre(I think!)This burnt orange dress is super flattering and fits QM perfectly, beautiful tailoring.

Maxima looks very good in the orange and the design of the dress is quite flattering on her. Her hair is quite pretty. I appreciate that she either curled her hair or chose a wig. The First Lady, Melania looks tres chic! The subtle texture and pattern on the white part of her dress complements the black pattern so nicely. The fit of the dress is perfect and Melania's hair is beautiful as usual.
