During their visit, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde met with various exhibitors. At the end of the visit, the Queen named the “Queen Mathilde of Belgium Azalea,” a new variety of Ghent azalea from the Drieghe Azalea nursery. For the occasion, Queen Mathilde wore a new floral-embroidered midi dress by Carolina Herrera.

And after this they are going to Sweden for the birthday party of King Carl Gustav. Queen Mathilde has a busy agenda for the moment. But tomorrow it is a holiday so they can come back to Brussels slowly after they had a good night sleep.
I like the new variety of Azalea which is baptized today and wears the queens name the Mathilde Azalea. The company who cultivated this new variety said it took 10 years before the Azalea was ready to show to the public and be baptized by the Queen.
I also like the new flower dress by Carolina Herrera the queen is wearing.
I remember they opened a former exhibition of the Ghent floralieën where Queen Mathilde was wearing another flower dress by Oscar de la Renta. I prefer the new dress. The dress is a midi dress for the model, but on Queen Mathilde it is shorter which I prefer.

  3. The workmanship and design of the embroidery is exquisite. It is strategically placed along one side of the dress so as not to be overwhelming and is a nice contrast to the peach colour. The dress is a simple design which allows the embroidery to shine. CH never fails to impress me.

Mathilde’s hair looks good here. It’s hard to tell from these pictures, but I am hoping maybe she has changed her hairstyle to a shorter, sleeker bob-type style, which would be flattering on her. The dress is pretty; however, the sleeveless style does not look quite right to me the way it is styled here. Maybe it’s the hat coupled with the sleeveless style that makes the outfit look a bit unbalanced to me.

I don't think she cut her hair. Yesterday evening she had an updo. This afternoon she and the king had to open the Flower show and her hair is still a bit in an updo, but lower in the neck than yesterday evening. This evening she and the king will be in Sweden for the Birthday Gala of King Carl Gustav, so maybe she will have an updo again. We will see.

Too much peachy volume under and too little over the waistline. So I think a slim straight skirt would be better for Mathilde's proportions if the dress is sleeveless. But also in general, these wide skirts are not so advantageous.

I love this and the gentle spring colour is wonderful. I just get a little frustrated with these high end dresses that there is no interest on the back - especially for royal ladies a bit of the embroidery on the back would be a great addition! LRB

If it was my dress I would not want embroidery on the back. When sitting down one could easily damage the embroidery. It is too delicate.
I have seen a close-up picture of Queen Mathilde and her dress. The embroidery is really beautiful and is done impeccably.

Maybe it is not so good to sit (or lean back) on embroidery, neither for the embroidery nor for the person wearing it?

  11. It's not a colour for her, the dress is good but perhaps for some brunette?

I totally agree and think a light blue or turquoise would be a better color for her. And as another poster mentioned, a straight skirt is better for her build. Come to think of it, sleeveless dresses just aren't very kind as one gets older.

  12. This dress is beautifully tailored, crafted and designed. The embroidery is sublime. The length of the dress is good, a bit shorter than the models, and better. Love the color of her accessories, perfect shade for her dress. The King looks very smartly dress and groomed.
