On March 31, 2026, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences’ annual ceremony at Stockholm City Hall. During the ceremony, the King presented the Gregori Aminoff Prize and the Sjöberg Prize.
The Gregori Aminoff Prize was awarded to David Eisenberg, Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, for his contributions to the field of crystallography. The Sjöberg Prize was presented to Charles Swanton of the Francis Crick Institute, for his research on cancer.
The Sjöberg Prize is an international award in cancer research presented to individual researchers or research groups. The Gregori Aminoff Prize recognises a documented, individual contribution in the field of crystallography, including areas related to the dynamics of the formation and dissolution of crystal structures.
The Göran Gustafsson Prize laureates Josefin Larsson, Simone Fabiano, Joanna Rorbach, and Emma R. Andersson received their awards from the President of the Academy, Sven Lidin. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (KVA) was founded in 1739 and is an independent organization that aims to promote the sciences and strengthen their influence in society.
