King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden celebrated his 80th birthday. On this occasion, numerous members of European royal families and heads of state gathered in Stockholm for the celebrations. On the evening of April 30, the King hosted a banquet for invited guests at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Members of the Swedish Royal Family, including Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Princess Madeleine, Christopher O’Neill, Prince Carl Philip, and Princess Sofia, attended the banquet at the Royal Palace.
Among the European royal families in attendance were King Frederik, Queen Mary, and Queen Margrethe of Denmark; King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium; King Harald, Queen Sonja, and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway; Grand Duke Guillaume, Grand Duchess Stéphanie, and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg; Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein; Queen Sofia of Spain; Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands; as well as King Rama X and Queen Suthida of Thailand.
Congratulations are in order for His Majesty King Carl Gustaf, happy birthday!!! Given the scale of the celebration and number of guests I'll try to keep my posting on tonight's banquet as short as possible. I'll like to mainly cover my favorite looks and special mentions.
ردحذفSweden: Her Majesty Queen Silvia looks beautiful sporting the Braganza tiara and the red one her is simply stunning. Princess Estelle looked lovely in her lilac dress, she's growing up so fast. One of my favorite looks of the night had to be Princess Sofia's outfit. The burgundy ombre skirt is gorgeous and I love the amethyst stones on her tiara.
Denmark: While I don't like her dress it was a nice surprise to see Queen Mary in a new tiara. I read in another article that the jewel is actually Queen Louise's floral bracelet which is being used as a tiara. Only time will tell if this change is permanent.
Belgium: Glad to see the Belgian monarchs were able to join for the evening festivities. With that said I love that Queen Mathilde decided to wear this orange gown again. She had previously worn it for a state visit to Denmark back in 2017 and I've loved it ever since.
Luxembourg: It is her first time attending a big royal gathering as Grand Duchess and I think Stephanie looked very elegant. Her light blue dress matched perfectly with her aquamarine jewels. Definitely a 10/10!
Spain: Another lady in blue was Queen Sofia who wore one of my favorite tiaras from the Spanish collection, the Mellerio shell tiara.
As a royal watcher tonight's birthday banquet was such a treat. It always so fun and exciting to see royals gathered together with their orders and glittery gowns.
Truly, they all look lovely. They are all appropriately dressed for a 'family' tiara birthday party (as opposed to a state banquet, where the added intention is to impress one's visitors with lots of everything) and none of them are dressed OTT, but instead set the right tone of restraint. For me, my favourite is Mathilde. Lovely dress with a light frothy skirt, beautiful colour, and it fits her perfectly. Honourable mention to Mary who wears a modern style quite attractively, and then her mother-in-law who is always dressed stylishly and colourfully without putting a foot in the wrong direction.

ردحذفDie Königin ist in einer wunderschönen Farbe, nur der Schnitt des Kleides finde ich nicht optimal. Hängt so a bisserl einfach runter. The tiara is stunning!
Die Familie der Kronprinzessin: einfach zauberhaft, das Kleid von Victoria in Farbe und Schnitt phantastisch. Auch schön, dass die beiden Händchen halten, ist halt doch ne Familienfeier und kein Staatsakt.
Madeleine schön wie immer, stilvoller Auftritt. Auch die Farbe von Sofia und der coole Style gefallen mir, sie sieht sehr modern und selbstbewusst aus
Königin Mathilde verliert etwas von ihrer Frische, die Farbe des Kleides wäscht sie etwas aus, wohingegen ich Schnitt und Material phantastisch finde
Ein sehr seltener Fehltritt ist für mich der Auftritt von Königin Mary. Ich mag weder das Muster des Kleides, noch den Ausschnitt. Die Frisur ist mir zu streng, ich finde mehr Weichheit im Haar steht ihr besser
Sophie von Liechtenstein trägt ein wunderbares Kleid in einer tollen Farbe; nur leider sieht die Schärpe aus, wie kurz übergeworfen, sie liegt zu nahe am Hals und verdeckt die Brosche an der Taille. Die Tiara ist ein Traum
Beide „Königinnen in Rente“, Margarete und Beatrix sind für sie sehr typisch gekleidet, sehr elegant und stilvoll. Margarete hat eine bewundernswerte Figur behalten und die Tiara von Beatrix ist mein all-time-high
Das thailändische Königspaar ist jetzt für mich überraschend als Gäste, die Königin ist wundervoll und kostbar gekleidet und geschmückt. Alles an diesem Kleid stimmt, die kleine Schleppe, der Schnitt des Oberteils, das Material, alles passt perfekt
The only miss for me is Mary of Denmark. Everyone looks great, the Thai Queen for me looks fabulous.
