The Duchess of Edinburgh met with members of the public during her visit to the Bloomfield Walkways Community Centre in Belfast.
On March 3, 2026, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Bloomfield Walkways Community Centre in Belfast. During her visit to the centre, the Duchess met with representatives of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The Duchess has served as patron of Guide Dogs since 2021.
During her one-day trip, the Duchess of Edinburgh also visited a new specialist autism centre in Randalstown, Co Antrim before attending a Women in Leadership event at the town’s library. The Duchess paid her first solo visit to the region since 2018.

If she had taken the original jacket with this skirt (see model), it could have been a terrific outfit ... but what on earth gave her the idea to combine it with a jacket unfitting in style and colour? What a pity.

حذفI actually prefer the jacket Sophie wore! I think she wanted the formality of a suit jacket and the chocolate brown of the jacket marries together the skirt and bout colours.

ردحذفWhat a lovely rich autumnal set of colours in the first photos with the mustard, Aubergine, chocolate brown and deep crimson. But of course for these visits the show stealers are always the dogs!
ردحذفWhile I like these colours for Sophie, I would prefer to see, say, a light-coloured top underneath the jacket to break up the overall darkness of the outfit ( or even a lighter bag or boots). The effect I am thinking of would be something like the example in pic 4 showing the mother with baby, where she is wearing brown paired with cream. Lyra

حذفI like the color combo even though it feels more autumn instead of spring. The skirt and boots are good, but this jacket is always too long on the duchess and the buttoned up double breasted cut emphasizes the length.
ردحذفOh, dear. This outfit is just all wrong. imv, Why the suit jacket with the (inevitably ) over long skirt. It may be a trick of the light but in the first photos it looks as if jacket, bag and boots are all different shades of brown and not in a good way. She is lovely, the cause is admirable but the outfit is a fail.

ردحذفNo matter the amount of money she spends on clothing she rarely gets it right. The skirt is pleasant enough, with the boots, but the boxy jacket does nothing for her. She would suit a waist length jacket. Her handbags always seem out of place. A small tote bag, would look far more professional. This look(sadly for me)gives a “popping to the grocery store” look.

I like what she wears. I do think she “gets it right”. She incorporates her tastes, her colour combining, sweet dresses, neat jackets, all with an English country lass vibe. Might not be your “right” but I think it’s hers.
حذفAnnon 0953, you are correct in that she incorporates her tastes for the country lass, however it doesn’t mean it looks the best for or on her. A few tweaks would make it visually more pleasing keeping with her choices.
حذفLove the skirt, but some how with this double breasted jacket does not match the fluid movement of the skirt. I think a different style jacket I. The same colour would be better.
ردحذفThe double breasted jacket worn by the model, this jacket is the perfect length, it would have been the better fit with the outfit the Duchess is wearing. The blazer she wore imo is just too long. I'm puzzled by the color of the jacket the Duchess chose. Is this now in fashion? Personally I'm not a fan of the color combination. The boots and bag (especially love the style of bag) are a pretty rich, color. Not sure what type of necklace she is wearing, nice to see her wearing one.

Yes, browns and especially chocolate brown are in fashion but the problem here is the overall wrong
(imo) colour scheme.
Such a basic mistake- putting two solid, dark shades like these two- should be avoided.
The shoes per se look gorgeous.
I don't really know what type of necklace she is wearing but I read that her earrings have diamonds paves, so I assume the necklace is coordinated.
The Duchess is marvellous regardless.
What truly captured me are pics 5-6 as I am wild about dogs and have one myself (a female husky)!

ردحذفMiss which mark, dear LRB? I like her style, her uniform she’s found for her. She doesn’t have to wear what’s globally accepted as most in fashion. She wears what she likes. I don’t think that requires a stylist. Or maybe indeed she has a stylist and together they’ve hit on this styling that has Sophie comfortable and feeling good?
حذفOf course she doesn’t have to wear what is globally accepted I never said that. What she should try to do is wear things that enhance her beautiful figure and amazing skin. In my opinion, she misses the mark on this - and a stylist would help her make small tweaks ( eg shorter skirts, shorter jackets… which many on here agree with me about ) that would enhance her look. We all get stuck in a rut sometimes, and I would love a stylist to come and show me how I could use what is in my wardrobe in better ways. LRB
حذفIt's really simple: don't wear a classic blazer-type (and double-breasted, on top)...) suit jacket to a wide and flowy feminine skirt with little fringes at the bottom. It is a classic fail, no matter that there are always ladies here who like it because they like Sophie. I do like her too, but this is something she is not good at. She does a terrific job - and has an almost nonexistent taste for her personal clothing. These are totally different aspects...

ردحذفThe jacket, skirt, and boots are all fine separately. Don’t know why she or her stylist put them together. Kind of random. Maybe her stylist. Not great.She got in 3 good engagements on this one day trip. Love the guide dog in training.
