On March 10, 2026, Queen Letizia visited the Cajamar Experimental Station “Las Palmerillas” in El Ejido, Almeria (Andalusia), a leading technological centre for research and development in Mediterranean intensive agriculture. This year, Las Palmerillas celebrates its 50th anniversary. Over the last 20 years, the group has developed hierarchical control systems for greenhouse agriculture and tested their results in practice.

The Queen’s visit also included a meeting with beneficiaries of the training programmes promoted by the Almería Tierra Abierta Foundation, aimed at facilitating labour market and social integration through training in sectors such as agriculture and hospitality.
