On March 26, 2026, Princess Benedikte of Denmark opened the special exhibition “Woven Masterpieces in Denmark” at Koldinghus in Kolding. Upon arrival, the Princess was received by Thomas C. Thulstrup, Director of the Royal Danish Collection. Princess Benedikte is the honorary patron of Koldinghus, which is part of the Royal Danish Collection.
The exhibition features masterpieces held in Danish collections and examines the many roles and meanings of tapestries, from prestige objects reserved for royals and nobles to the more abstract, narrative, and popular art forms of the 20th century. The display also includes works from our own time, created by contemporary artists who are reviving the craft while reinterpreting and renewing the tradition.
One of the oldest works in the exhibition is the so-called Doomsday Tapestry, dating from around 1460–1475. It was most likely woven in the Southern Netherlands. The piece is among the best-preserved pictorial weavings in Denmark and offers a rare insight into the visual world and technical skill of the late Middle Ages. The exhibition “Woven Masterpieces in Denmark” can be seen at Koldinghus from March 27 to October 25, 2026.

She is always so beautifully attired and groomed, so naturally elegant. Her jacket is colorful, fits well, I like the style. Her green emerald earrings draw out the green flecks of her jacket, great choice. Her skirt is a good fit and length. Love the color of her accessories. As another blogger has mentioned, the Princess has beautiful posture, she carries herself well.
