On March 29, 2026, Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence attended a wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service marking the anniversary of HMS Dasher at the Ardrossan War Memorial on the North Ayrshire coast in southwestern Scotland. HMS Dasher served in the Second World War and sank on 27 March 1943. Only 149 of the 528 crew members on board survived.
HMS Dasher commemorations take place every year on the last full weekend in March. Most of those who died were buried at Ardrossan or Greenock. In 1993, a memorial to those lost on HMS Dasher was erected in Ardrossan, and since then there have been annual acts of remembrance involving local dignitaries and “Dasher families.”

The loss of life so many crew members died, so awful. Lovely though to see the Princess and Sir Tim in attendance, marvelous.
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne and Vice Admiral Laurence appear to be a truly great couple. It must be cold since people are bundled up and Princess Anne seems to have left her gloves at home, odd since she is rarely them. :) She looks great in that well fitted coat. While I am not a fan of her choice of boots, I am a fan of her - great lady.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!
DeleteAnne looks good this colour suits her (Tara)
ReplyDeleteThe boots are awful and the princess needs a new handbag, but the vintage coat is very appropriate, not too dark, not too light, in accordance with the occasion.

The boots look very sensible for outside on wet ground in a small seaside town. The bag is no doubt high quality leather and in great condition. It’s all very serviceable and very Anne and highly sustainable so I think it’s all good!
DeleteLes lignes de ce manteau lui conviennent à merveille ; j'ai plaisir à la voir sans porter de gants !
ReplyDeleteI assume the boots are comfortable for her to stand around for a long time in the cold. And that is all that matters.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the other "royals2???????????????????
ReplyDeleteVery appropriate, like this coat. Always Duty first, always there when it matters.
