King Frederik X and Queen Mary are paying a state visit to Australia from 14 to 19 March 2026. On the morning of 15 March 2026, accompanied by a guide, the King and Queen visited the Muṯitjulu Waterhole at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park to experience the sunrise over Uluṟu. For the Aṉangu, the site and the landscape surrounding Uluṟu, also known as Ayers Rock, are closely connected to their culture and spiritual relationship with the land.

After sunrise, the King and Queen continued around the monumental rock, completing the entire hiking trail around Uluṟu, which is nearly ten kilometres long. The stay at Uluṟu formed part of the Royal Couple’s state visit to Australia. Later on Sunday, the King and Queen travelled to Canberra. They will also visit Melbourne and Hobart during the state visit.
