King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden are making a state visit to Poland at the invitation of Polish President Karol Nawrocki. On the evening of March 10, 2026, the King and Queen attended a State Banquet hosted by the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and the First Lady, Marta Nawrocka at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw.
For the State Banquet, Queen Silvia of Sweden wore the earrings and brooch from the Swedish Pink Topaz Parure, paired with Carl XVI Gustaf’s portrait brooch. The Pink Topaz Parure was given as a wedding gift by Paul I of Russia to his daughter, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia (1786–1859), when she married Charles Frederick, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach in 1804.

DeleteThis deep pink color looks stunning. The outfit looks lovely. It appears she is wearing her pink aqua stone brooch, this is such a beautiful brooch, of substance and gorgeous style. Same stone with her earrings, they are a lovely size. The first lady, looks beautiful, love this shade of ? Is it a deep teal color? The gown has an interesting neckline, adding interest. The sleeves I love. She has great taste in clothes.

DeleteBoth ladies look lovely, a different style for Q.Sylvia and it suits her but the jewellery for me is an overload. The earrings give barmaid vibe, too larhe and ostentatious, diamonds and/or pearls would have looked better and not jarred with the vibrant colour of her dress. IMO!

DeleteI preferred to be called a barmaid if someone would offer me jewelry with pink topaz. Do you realize the value of these jewels ? Besides the pink topaz are surrounded by diamonds.
DeleteFrom what I can find out, the pink topaz set was made as an Imperial Russian wedding gift in 1804, and went through a number of family owners before ending up in Sweden. Maybe Imperial Russia in 1804 had different views on suitable jewels. There is no tiara in the set, but there is a very large necklace.

DeleteWow, I just love what Queen Silvia is wearing and how she has accentuated her dress with the jewelry. I do not recall having seen this brooch in this set-up, only in smaller parts, but I think she wanted to make a statement to wear this important piece for an important occasion. I love the little clutch that goes with it, but why do we often see Silvia with her phone in the hand...? First lady loooks lovely as well, even if the dress should be shortened by 1 inch a so.

ReplyDeleteIt is all very elegant. However I would have left off the hoop part of the earings and placed that fenominal brooch at the cross over of the neck scharf like it was anchoring it. The jewels are fighting with the order on her right shoulder as it is now. I am presuming that the order placement has to be where it is and cannot be put elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI was reading somewhere, possibly by Angela Kelly in QEII, that when making dresses that are to be worn with heavy jewels, there has to be a special interlining sewn in to the dress to stop the pins for the jewels dragging down and tearing the dress fabric. This does limit the choice of positions to pin the jewels.
DeleteQueen Sylvia's dress has that beautiful magenta color which suits her so well. She has other dresses in this color and each time it is a succes. I thought her jewelry were amethysts but they are pink topaz. They match her dress so well. A pity she has to wear her husband's portrait brooch which often ruins the beauty of the dress and the other jewelry. But that's tradition in certain countries like Sweden, Norway, Denmark...

ReplyDeleteSilvia looks lovely. She is such a dignified lady. Certainly a model of class, longevity and poise. This bright colour is excellent on her.
First Lady looks pretty, seems to have a soft, kind countenance. Don’t particularly like her dress, but she wears it well.
