Princess Anisha, wife of Brunei’s Prince Abdul Mateen, has welcomed her first child, a daughter. RTB News, Brunei’s national public broadcaster, released a statement regarding the birth and announced that, in honour of the occasion, a 17-gun salute was fired in the gardens of Nurul Iman Palace. Prince Mateen is the son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and is fifth in the line of succession to the Bruneian throne.
Prince Abdul Mateen and Princess Anisha married in an elaborate ten-day celebration from 7 January to 16 January 2024. The wedding reception, known as the Royal Bersanding Ceremony, took place at the royal throne hall of Istana Nurul Iman in the capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan. Alongside government leaders, guests included Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema.
