On 28 January 2026, Queen Letizia of Spain attended a working meeting of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) at its headquarters in Madrid, during which the organisation presented its main projects for the year 2026. Queen Letizia of Spain, Permanent Honorary President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer and of the AECC Scientific Foundation, chaired the meeting.
It is snowing non stop in Madrid and things are not very prepared for snow, many people could not get their Jobs.

ReplyDeleteThis is another dull, somber and depressing outfit. I think I will have to cease commenting on Letizia's attire because I can't help being so negative. Or maybe I will only comment when she wears something lively.
ReplyDeleteI hear you Sandra, I used to love her style, but I feel that since she stopped using her go to stilettos, she has changed her look, and although we'll put together, there is seldom a wow moment. For instance her hair, always spot on, is now healthy, groomed, but nothing special.

She has been going from funerals to funerals, there are another one this week, there is not time in Spain for lively. Also, Madrid is collapsed by the snow.

DeleteI understand that lately there have been some deaths in Spain (and Sofia's sister) hence the black outfits. But Letizia's change to more understated and dull outfits has been going on for quite some time now. Gradually since the pandemic there has been a notable decline in the style of her outfits and as Anon.00:48 pointed out even her hairstyles are now boring. Her hairstylist used to come up with some great hairdos. I'm not criticizing her it's just she used to be so stylish in the past that it is sad to see her now. I used to be in awe of her but now her oufits are so disappointing. I feel a woman's outward appearance is a reflection of her state of mind in general. Maybe she is just older now and doesn't care about what she wears. She has so many great clothes in her closet hopefully she will resurrect them and give them a new life.

ReplyDeleteThis Navy outfit looks wonderful. I have always loved it as a favorite color, I always thought it was smart. The pants, polo jumper and scarf lovely color. Her jacket looks great, some color. The pants especially are the perfect length, not baggy, nice. The combination fits perfectly, the overall look is splendid, simply because it fits her beautifully.

As Queen Elizabeth declared, she did not want to disappoint and knew what was expected of her, and I understabd that she was not terribly interested in clothes. My impression is that Queen Letizia has not understood that she represents the crown, i.e. the people, and NOT herself and that she has sartorial obligations in her elevated role, very simple.

Delete.Maybe she got tired of the sustained criticism of her every shift in style (take a look at the comments section in Vanitatis for the past 20 years) and decided to dim her light.
I think It IS just the contrary, people in Spain do not understand "a crown", there is only a king in Spain because It is supposed than Juan Carlos helped the transition from a dictatorship to a Democracy. Actually most of Spaniards would prefer a Republic. Almost nobody follows her clothes and she is critizised when she spends money...her obligation IS to be in the shade...in Spain..
DeleteI agree about QEll. She always wore bright, vibrant colours and nifty hats so she would stand out from the crowd and people would be able to see her even from a distance. Letizia wants to fade into the crowd and be almost invisible.
DeleteSandra UK and Spain has not the same history, Monarchy was abolised in Spain ages ago and there were two RepĂşblics....Alfonso XIII was sent to the exile....the things was a dictator appeared and the Republic was destroyed...Franco, the dictator named Juan Carlos as his sucesor, howver he was agree with a Democracy... because of that there is a King in Spain...a mixture of a President of a Republic and a King.
DeleteAlso, the concept of " stand out of the croud" is British, not Spanish at all...Felipe II, the Emperor, always wore dark clothes, austerity.....just the contrary, vibrante colours were considered tacky..
Posts implying that she does not understand her role due to her 'commoner' origins were a subtle way to make her feel uncomfortable or -less than- to keep her in her place
DeleteShe could not overshadow the king ..the old Queen..the infantas..her husband..Now according to the critics she has to mute her appearance so the daughters can shine..(2 teenagers who need lots more education to serve their country effectively). For such a small family everyone should should shine to appeal to the public.
