Queen Camilla Visits the Wiltshire Museum in the Town of Devizes

Queen Camilla visited the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes to learn about the “Assizes for Devizes Project,” which will transform the Assize Court building into a museum and a permanent home for its collections. The museum, established in 1874, houses the largest collection of Early Bronze Age gold ever displayed in England and is also home to treasures from the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site.

I agree. I miss Queen Elizabeth and her beautiful outfits. This hand bag is a poor substitute in every way

Is it her bordeaux handbag which is worn by a woman in uniform ?
It is the only more or less up-to-date object she is wearing today.
I cannot like the white coat which is coming back year after year and looks so old to me. But the bordeaux dress worn by the woman on picture N° 4 is looking worse than the white coat.
I also liked Queen Elizabeth's beautiful coats and dresses. Although she was dressed like an older lady she looked always chique and had a chique attitude. I think this is what Queen Camilla will never have.

Well I guess when you have so many coats they never wear out so you rewear them. I am of the thought that coats are left at each home to use when in residence.

It is certainly true that Camilla has adopted a more informal style than we were used to seeing on the late Queen, and I do miss hats and gloves — but I think that Camilla (as many of us would, were we thrust into that position) knew herself well enough to know that she did not want to have to bother with a full complement of accessories on absolutely every occasion as Queen Elizabeth did. That may be disappointing, but it probably helps her stay sane — and there may be many members of the public who approve of less formality, and more approachability, on the part of royals. “Moving with the times.” The pendulum may eventually swing back.

Camilla is certainly a different person. She came to the role late after quite a different life. She has brought herself to the role and doesn’t pretend to be someone else or to emulate the previous queen. I admire Camilla’s choice to dress more simply (she is afterall the consort to the reigning person and not the reigning one herself!), focus on some terrifically important causes, to meet the public cheerfully and with compassion, and to support Charles. This is already a massive life change and role and by all accounts she does it beautifully. She doesn’t need to do more in my opinion.

I’ve never kept track of how often royal ladies wear a particular garment; this could be a brand new coat as far as I’m concerned, and I think it is classic, elegant, and well-tailored to the wearer. — Jane

I must defend queen Camilla. She is not the reigning queen, and I much prefer her attitude to fashion to that of queen Rania, for example, who hardly ever rewears anything and is much more vain than the queen consort. However, she could give this trusted coat extra life with a new scarf or brooch. Unfortunately, and I have noticed this too often, her posture leaves much to be desired.
