On January 11, 2026, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the pontifical Mass held for the inauguration of the Gudula26 events, as part of the celebrations marking the 800th anniversary of the Cathedral of St Michael and St Gudula in Brussels. The Mass was presided over by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See and Papal Legate.
