On January 13, 2026, on the occasion of the New Year, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium received the heads of the European institutions based in Brussels and the permanent representatives accredited to the European Union at the Royal Palace in Brussels. Before the reception, King Philippe of Belgium and Crown Princess Elisabeth attended a meeting with the heads of the European institutions at the Royal Palace.
There are better pictures of Queen Mathilde taken in the front on Getty images. The blue dress is lovely, She is wearing the blue saphire earrings which are also worn sometimes by CP Elisabeth when she is wearing a navy dress (the inthronement in the GD of Luxembourg).
ردحذفCP Elisabeth wears the black dress she was wearing at the reception when Queen Elizabeth II passed away. On that occasion she has been introduced by her father King Philippe to King Charles and to Princess Catherine.
ردحذفLovely dress but not the best silhouette of the Queen. Elisabeth must be wearing Natan, based on the seam of the top of the dress. Typical Natan structure. I know that dark colours are in but I just find them too somber. The garments need something to add interest like a necklace. The earring are beautiful.
ردحذفI agree. Queen Mathilde’s dress is a great colour but the fit of the dress is not good and the too looks too tight. Princess Elisabeth looks lovely but the dark dress could do with a scarf or jacket to lighten it

I have to make a correction I said earlier (Anon.16:36) that Elisabeth's dress was black but it was Navy.
CP Elisabeth is wearing a dark dress and so are Queen Mary of Denmark and Queen Letizia of Spain. Why it is always the Belgian royal ladies who receive all the critics ? Why a young CP is adviced she should wear a scarf (like an old lady) or a jacket to lighten up her dress ? Why it is never adviced to Queen Mary or Queen Letizia who are wearing dark colors during the whole winter.

حذفCP Elisabeth est née avec un sourire sur le visage. Ursula von der Leyen est une européenne elle même. La Belgique est l'hôte des institutions européennes, de l'Otan et du SHAPE. En temps que princesse héritière elle ne peut pas faire autrement qu'être gentille, souriante et montrer son intérêt. Elle est une jeune femme très intélligente et doit être tout aussi inquiete comme nous tous. Personne ne sait ce qu'on peut attendre de l'avenir.

ردحذف2 It might be a silly question, but why is Princess Elisabeth holding a bag? She could have left it somewhere in the palace (I know that the Royal Palace is not their actual home, but it's one of their residences). This bag gives me an impression that she is a guest and not one of the hostesses.
In the pictures you see here from the reception Queen Mathilde is not wearing a bag but on other pictures of the same reception she does wear one. Queen Elisabeth is holding a bag just like her mother always does. I suppose it contains her GSM and she has to check now and then if there are important messages she has to answer. As a student one of these days I suppose, she has to return to Harvard University.
