The Princess of Wales Hosts the Together At Christmas Carol Service at Westminster Abbey

Princess Charlotte, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duchess of Gloucester, Zara Tindall, Lady Helen Taylor

On December 5, 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, attended the Together At Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey in London. The Princess of Wales hosted her annual service, which brought together 1,600 guests. This year’s theme was the celebration of love in all its forms. The concert also paid a special tribute to the late Duchess of Kent, who passed away at the age of 92.

A beautiful event. Westminster Abbey is stunning as always, but it is breathtaking with the Christmas decorations.
Catherine's dark green color suits her very well. It brings out the color of her eyes. All the royals look beautifully dressed.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is absolutely radiant. Some commentators may complain about the length of her coat, but I don't mind. She looks very young. I wish I could be as radiant when I'm 60, or as elegant as the Duchess of Gloucester when I'm 80.

It’s always an event I look forward to. Seeing such a good turn out from the family, especially those members we might not see as regularly as the prominent royals.
The Wales children have all had a growing spurt. I think Princess Charlotte looks lovely in her navy dress. I’m quite a traditionalist, so I appreciate the collar and the velvet bow in her hair.
Both the boys look dapper in their suits, as does Prince William.
I liked this coat and the added trim when Catherine wore it a few years back. Green is a good color on her.
The standout for me was Lady Windsor. She always looks so well presented. Her hair neatly done. Her outfit fits beautifully, and her accessories marry up perfectly to her outfit. I love how she matched her girls in festive red coats.
Zara also looked lovely, but I not sure if she’s wearing black or dark blue.
Duchess Sophie staying true to her long coats. The dress underneath doesn’t seem to match the coat, and her ankle boots matches nothing she’s wearing, nir does it match her clutch bag. She herself looks so pretty and she certainly defies her age.
    Lowri.

First of all, how lovely is it to see all these extended members of the Royal family and their children gather together in one place? It is a rare occurrence indeed, and a lovely thought that the season of Christmas, together with the noteworthy effort of the Princess of Wales makes this happen every year now for the past 5. Well done to her, and to all of them.
As for the clothing, they all look great, and of course the children - all of them - are adorable.

I like Catherine’s coat and earrings very much. They look festive for the season. I wonder what the temperature is inside Westminster Abbey - it must be quite chilly given how bundled-up everyone is inside.

Awesome coats from so many royals! it's hard to pick a favourite, but I have to mention Zara, whose shorter blonder hairstyle looks stunning with her black jumper and coat of navy velvet with black satin lapels. It's a minimalist outfit, reminiscent of Charlene's style, and super chic. Lyra

I agree, she looks fab! Sophie is also glowing. The Cambridge family is looking well co-ordinated and more traditional but I like that choice for them since they're the center of this service.

    Beautiful winter coats.
The best looks for me are Princess Catherine in her bottle green coat and fur collar and the Duchess of Gloucester in her dark red coat. The children in their red outfits are lovely. Zara Tindall is looking good too. Does Carole Middleton wear a coat that once belonged to her daughter Princess Catherine ? If not there is a big ressemblence. Princess Charlotte is wearing no coat. It must not be warm in Westminster Abbey. These old cathedrals are difficult to get warm.

Le manteau de Catherine est plus court :

Ce style de tartan est très répandu. Charlotte a porté aussi un manteau de ce style, un peu différent :

Probably at home, putting their feet up? It is not a must, the Waleses are also not each time present when King+Queen have an appointment. They have only been there once, 2022, when the service was dedicated to the Late Queen Elizabeth II.

    4. Should you mean Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla - they've had some very busy days recently, and as the king has not been officially been cleared of cancer, I think he might still receive some treatment, and needs to rest a little, too. They do not attend that particular event most of the times anyway.

    5. Anonymous6/12/25 17:33

King Charles and the Queen consort don't attend as a matter of protocol. Since they are senior ranking royals to the Prince and Princess of Wales, their presence and protocol would demand a greater share of attention, in addition to all the other attendant services that follow them around. Their absence is a correct and polite way of letting The Prince and Princess of Wales to exercise their seniority at this event (they are second after Charles and Camilla), and especially for an event that was organised, led and hosted by the Princess. She should be the most senior person present (with William), and she is.

Voilà pourquoi, puisque vous me l'avez demandé.

William, Catherine and all three children looked handsome, lovely, and serene. Extended family were very nice to see, yet the bulk of the invited guests were those impacted in some manner, or volunteer's who assist those in need within their community, or the wonderful young musicians who played music as the guests were arriving.
The clothing was traditional, lovely, appropriate. It was the reason for the service that stands out, not who was or was not there, or what the women were wearing. The dedication of those who offer their time, talents, treasures to those in need, such as lifting up the young musicians to show them how to become the best they can be in life (such as the late Duchess of Kent), those are the treasured individuals, and moments that were reflected upon during this service. I applaud Catherine, and all who helped her put together this wonderful, heart-felt service.

@Edwina, thank you for reminding us that the deeper sense of this service was something else than fashion. I think everybody knows it quite well. Being reminded of the self-evident makes me feel slightly inappropriate for talking about what the focus of this blog is.

Sorry, this is simply not true. I don't know how you can base such a judgement on the context of a state visit. Why should he laugh out loud with Steinmeier when he can laugh with children? Cf. https://www.instagram.com/p/DRfeZyykgo_/?img_index=4

Ladies all look appropriately and neatly attired. Charlotte looks out of place in that "victorian" style white collar on her dress or coat. Surely a 10 yr old girl can't be happy wearing this type of clothing. Let her be a little more modern , even if her mother feels the need to play it safe with her own wardrobe.

What happened to Charlottes coat? Even Kate's got a coat on; style over substance makes no sense. Have they got damart underwear on? Sophie looks good. The other Royal's look good.(Tara)

They had just a few steps between the car they arrived in and the church. Catherine has been there before, being the host and responsible, and she came out to greet her family. If they choose not to wear a coat for just a couple of steps, there is no reason to suppose "style over substance" preferences .
