On December 19, 2025, Japanese Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, and their daughter, Princess Aiko, visited the New National Theatre in Shibuya to attend a performance of the ballet The Nutcracker. The production featured new choreography by former Royal Ballet dancer Will Tuckett. This marked the first time the Imperial Family has attended a ballet performance together as part of an official engagement.
