On December 23, 2025, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima released their 2025 Christmas card. The photo on the card shows King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, Crown Princess Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane together. The photograph was taken by photographer Robin Utrecht last summer after Princess Amalia’s graduation ceremony. The message on the card reads: “Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.”

It’s about them for their people, celebrating their year and their Christmas. It’s not for you in this case, not to please you! It’s not disrespect Rossella, it’s simply a beautiful family photo from 2025 which for the family represents what they want to represent. They are happy and together, and I imagine that’s their wish for this card. We shouldn’t judge too hard a family’s choice for their greeting card!

حذفHet komt juist uit de Nederlandse pers dat zij nog examens moest afleggen of herkansingen had. Wat ik mij niet kan voorstellen dat zij dan een diploma heeft gekregen en op de ceremonie aanwezig was met haar ouders en grootmoeder. Het valt trouwens op dat er geen enkele foto te vinden is waar zij haar diploma overhandigd krijgt van een van de directeurs of professoren van haar universiteit. Misschien gaat het in Nederland er helemaal anders aan toe dan in andere landen, maar zolang men niet bewezen heeft dat men recht heeft op een diploma d.w.z. geslaagd zijn voor alle vakken men geen diploma krijgt uitgereikt.

ردحذفThe Australian brand Zimmerman dress I love! Looks great on Queen Maxima, fits her well , love the color of this dress and subtle design. I enlarged the photo of the model, the pattern of the fabric is beautiful, the scalloped hemline and cuffs of her cap sleeves is unusual and effective. The young royal ladies all look lovely.

ردحذفAfter so many royals used summer/spring photos for their Christmas cards, it doesn't irritate me anymore. What I don't like is that they chose a photo, in which not all members of the Dutch royal family look their best. Alexia's clothes look dishevelled. Folds on Ariane's trousers are too noticeable.

Have seen a great deal on this blog, from beautiful gowns, jewelry, hair do's, people, oh right, they are ALL just people, some born into a situation that is supposed to elevate them to another status in life. How unfortunate that this grad pic, represents a young woman who did not graduate, had to re-sit various courses, the family should have taken care to have a real Christmas greeting for the year. Nice smiles, don't always mean nice people, we are all just as good as the next person. FREEDOM of speech.

I think this is fine for a Christmas card - where I live, it’s not uncommon for families to use pictures from a milestone event (wedding, graduation, etc.) or a trip during the past year on their Christmas card.

I suppose the term 'Christmas card' has different meanings in different parts of the world.
ردحذفFor us here in Canada, a Christmas card is a card containing Christmas wishes. That's it. Nothing more is required. If the sender wants to include a photo of themselves or their family, they can do so, taken at any time of the year. Accordingly I find nothing wrong with the Dutch Royal family's photo. I personally don't like Ariane's pose, but as a family photo, it's fine.
