On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema met with the Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, at Government House in Bangkok, on the occasion of their official visit to Thailand. On December 22, Their Majesties were conferred honorary doctoral degrees by Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
Following the meeting, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck of the Kingdom of Bhutan paid a royal visit to Wat Ratchabophit Buddhist Temple in Bangkok, where they paid respects to His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand.

Once again, the King and Queen look wonderful. Can anyone tell me why they are wearing such “sober” colours during this trip? I wondered at the dark colours when they received their honourary degrees, and was surprised to see them in similar dress here.
ردحذفIt is because they respect the one year mourning period for the late Queen Sirikit.
حذفI wonder what caring products Queen Jetsun Pemu uses to keep her skin looking healthy and smooth, also King Jigme's skin looks smooth and well looked after. Maybe they only use oils from plants one can only find in Bhutan.
ردحذفAnybody know ?
Hard to tell if the clothes are black or dark blue. Exquisite fabric as always. Interesting formal wear.
ردحذفIs there a reason that the king and queen are dressed in black?
ردحذفYes. It is because in Thailand they observe a one year mourning period for the late Queen Sirikit.
حذفBien beaux tous les deux vêtus de gris très foncé ; j’ai remarqué des impressions sur la tenue de la Reine qui mettent son look en valeur !

ردحذفThailand still mourns the death of Queen Sirikit- hence the dark colours
