On December 5, 2025, Queen Mary of Denmark hosted a Christmas reception at Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg for the Mary Foundation’s partners and staff, to exchange Christmas greetings and express gratitude for their dedicated work over the past year. Since its establishment in 2007, The Queen has served as Chair of the Mary Foundation, which works to create a society where everyone feels they belong.

I'm not sure if the skirt has flecks of blue, but I love this skirt the design and color scheme. The jumper and neckline look interesting, she looks lovely.

ReplyDeleteBut I don’t think they look silly and she probably doesn’t either and that’s why she’s wearing them. I think they’re superb and feminine and a beautiful contrast to the overall outfit.

ReplyDeleteThe vibrant satin animal print skirt is nicely supported by the neutral black pumps and black jumper, so the basics are good.
But with this outfit there seems to be so much going on. The white lace cuffs are worlds apart from the moody and mysterious animal print, as an aesthetic concept. Then there are the earrings, gorgeous in themselves, but less so with this skirt, which I feel would be better complemented by modernist chunky gold jewellery (of the sort Mathilde, Maxima and Sonja often wear ). The necklace with the butterfly is just different enough to the earrings to lack the cohesion of a parure, even if they are from the same designer; I think it would have been better to leave the necklace off altogether. @Lyra, you made a good summery. I usually like almost everything what Mary is wearing, but this time there is something very odd. For me the most odd thing is her jewelry. I can see that the upper stones in her earrings are blue like her necklace, but you can see only the brown ones cearly and they don't much with the necklace. I don't like either her white cuffs, but the skirt looks nice.
DeleteThe necklace could afford a nice festive touch, being far enough, so to speak, from the animal print. What ruins it this time, are, for me at least, the cuffs, in the way you analyze it. The butterfly is a must as a symbol for the Mary Foundation, and it sits well on the necklace. The contours (ovals) of her earrings are playing a duet with the butterfly ovals - maybe that was why she chose those earrings, I like how they "talk" to each other.
DeleteLyra, I have to agree with everything you said here, too. The whole look is very random, and not up to her usual standards. The tiny butterfly is very odd.

DeleteLa seule chose que j'aime est le collier mais il ne s'harmonise pas avec les boucles d'oreilles. (Je pense que ce serait mieux sans elles).
ReplyDeleteLe papillon est une broche déjà vue : sans doute l'emblème de sa fondation car elle le porte toujours pour ces occasions.
Cependant ça ne va pas très bien avec le collier, peut-être que cette broche aurait pu être accrochée sur une barrette dans les cheveux ?
Le reste de la tenue est assez sombre comme tous les autres vêtements qu'elle a portés précédemment en décembre. Je n'aime ni les dentelles ni l'imprimé, et l'ensemble est trop disparate.

The styling is not OK here. There is too much which is going on and doesn't coordinate with the rest.

ReplyDeleteI like the fit of the skirt, perhaps if the lace cuffs were navy or black it would not be as distracting as the white, but keeping a feminine touch.
ReplyDeleteIt seems a relaxed informal evening going on the choice of clothing of the guests. I like the print skirt. I would have preferred a blouce, rather than the jumper with the white edging. Maybe a black chiffon blouce, matched with the satin skirt would have looked lovely.

Jag tycker inte kombinationen var bra alls.Spetsen,kjolen,tröjan,halsbandet har ingen matchning någonstans.Spetsen ser ut som hon har glömt nattsärken inunder tröjan.Kjolen elegant,men ger ett sömnlöst intryck ihop med övrig outfit.
