Princess Haya of Jordan Receives the FEI’s Highest Honor, the Order of Merit

Princess Haya of Jordan has been awarded the Order of Merit, the FEI’s highest distinction. As the first recipient of the FEI Order of Merit, Princess Haya was presented with the award by FEI President Ingmar De Vos during the London International Horse Show. Princess Haya of Jordan served as FEI President from 2006 to 2014 and is currently the organisation’s Honorary President. At the age of 13, she became the first female to represent Jordan internationally in equestrian sport in show jumping. She won an individual bronze medal at the Pan-Arab Equestrian Games in 1992 and remains the only woman to have won a Pan-Arab medal in equestrian sport.

The FEI Order of Merit, created in 2023, is the highest distinction awarded by the FEI. It recognises outstanding lifetime achievements, commitment, and contributions to the growth, development, promotion, and success of equestrian sport. The International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) is the international governing body of equestrian sports.
