The Twenty-Second Meeting of the States Parties (22MSP) took place at the United Nations Office in Geneva. Princess Astrid of Belgium attended the 22nd Meeting of the States Parties to the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines. Belgium ratified the Ottawa Convention in 1998, and the treaty now has 166 States Parties. Belgium was the first country to adopt national legislation banning anti-personnel mines in 1995.

OMG did “princess” Delphine advise her to wear this outfit ??
ReplyDeleteOne can think of Princess Delphine whatever one wants, but she is formally a Princess, therefore her title should not be put in quotationmarks. Very impolite.
DeletePrincess Delphine, like the rest of us, had no say in her conception or parentage. She IS a Princess whether any of us has an issue with it - or not. Princess Astrid looks vibrant in her silk scarf tunic. Perhaps her artistic flair is a shared family trait. :-)
DeleteThere are also painters in the family : of King Leopold I there are still paintings in Laeken and King Philippe made a.o. a couple of paintings of Queen Mathilde which are not bad at all.
Deleteit must be ...... *King Philippe painted a couple of portraits of Queen Mathilde*...... Anonymous 00:03
DeleteI do like Astrids' cheerful tunic dress, which I understand is made of 2 silk scarves; it reminds me of the Katerin Theys lime green "kimono dress" she wore 2 months ago to the USA. I think lime green suits her very well.
ReplyDeleteThe static cling from both the pants and the jumper mar the look -- but that is easily solved. I'm not a fan of the hand-painted Roselinedoreye bag (pic 5) with this outfit, only because the painted design is more of a cottage/folk aesthetic compared to the modernist design on the scarf. I'd also love to see this tunic worn with a coat in a colour from the scarf - such as off-white -- just to avoid the all-back effect of the coat when worn over over this outfit. The array of coats we saw at the recent ChristmasCarols event in London inspired me to think about how interesting a winter coat in a colour, even a dark colour, can be. Lyra

ReplyDeleteI love Princess Astrid's colourful outfit. Since it is winter in Geneva like in Belgium, I understand why she wore a black sweater and black trousers under the kimonodress. She added a black winter coat which I think is the best thing to do. I do not see her adding a lime green wintercoat which would be too much of this color in one outfit. I cannot see her handbag very well on these pictures, but I think a simple black handbag not too big would be the best choice.
ReplyDeleteWhen Princess Astrid was younger, she was always dressed very classic. And sometimes she still does. When she began to represent King Philippe on international economic missions, she changed slowely but surely her wardrobe by wearing now and then more colourful outfits, sometimes a bit folkloric and/or sometimes a dress which creates a link with the country she visits. She is the right person to do this job for her country with her big smile and laughing she shows her enthousiasm for the task she likes to do.
I wonder if CP Elisabeth will take over this job from her aunt once she finishes her studies next year (2026).
It took a second look but I like this very much, Colour is great, earrings perfect. Very clever putting 2 scarves together, must be comfortable to wear.
ReplyDeleteNot everyone can pull off this colour. I think it looks great on her.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteShe has a very individual style and I admire that. The colors are sublime.
ReplyDeleteI love that she plays with fashion, she tries new things… This outfit might be a bit eccentric for her, but I like it.
ReplyDeleteI like it. I only wish It was a little shorter hitting just below the waist instead of it being a dress. In the spring it must look really great this length. Also this length (it being a dress) works really well in the last photo with her wearing a coat.
ReplyDeleteT
What is she wearing a scarf or something really.
