On December 19, 2025, the traditional official Christmas photographs of the Norwegian royal family—featuring King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and Prince Sverre Magnus—were released under the title “Merry Christmas!” This year’s Christmas photos were taken by photographer Ola Vatn in the Red Salon at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
Recently, the Norwegian Royal Palace announced that various tests conducted this autumn have shown a negative development in Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s health, and that doctors at Rikshospitalet have therefore begun preparations for an assessment for a possible lung transplant. In the meantime, the Royal Palace has stated that the Crown Princess wishes to continue working as much as she is able. Crown Princess Mette-Marit was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018.

Lovely photos! MR
ReplyDeleteNice to see Ingrid in something youthful thats not borrowed from her mother's style/wadrope
ReplyDeleteThe fabric texture of the queens dress makes it very pretty. Not sure about the dark colour for Ingrid, though it looks okay. The blue blouse is a nice colour for the crown princess, however I find the sharp contrast with the skirt not the best. And the men all look very nice in their suits, especially Sverre, finally a suit that is not too tight. Lovely family photo
ReplyDeleteI like these photographs very much, with the three generations and the festive tree in the background. I can imagine this is a difficult time for them with Mette Marit’s worsening health condition.
