On Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, King Harald and Queen Sonja attended the traditional Christmas Day service at Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo. The King and Queen were accompanied by Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett. Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by Parish Priest Paul Erik Wirgenes and liturgist Einar Martinius P. Hammershaug.

Wow - this royal couple looks wonderful. King Harold always immaculately dressed. Queen Sonja looks stunning - color coordinated and here’ a hat I truly love. Simple, elegant - not like the others we’ve been viewing this morning.
ReplyDeleteThe king's name is Harald not the same as Harold.
DeleteThank you for the correction Anon 07:51 . Noted and appreciated.
DeleteQueen Sonja looks lovely in this gorgeous coat. She looks very stylish and warm!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Beautiful coat with fur trim and a fabulous hat. The King also looks great in a red tie.
DeleteGreat to see the King and Queen. Q Sonja always elegant.

The best dressed is Queen Sonia. Her coat made of a beautiful beige woolen fabric, the fur collar and the brown fedora are going well together. She looks stylish and elegant.
ReplyDeleteLa reine Sonja fait preuve d’élégance dans ce manteau au col fourrure ; j’aime moins son chapeau !
ReplyDeleteBellissima Sonia, la mia regina preferita ❤️
ReplyDeleteKing Harald looks very smart, but no to Q. Sonja`s coat she would look so much better wearing a tailored coat and ditching the belt. Real fur is not particularly p.c. !
ReplyDeleteWhat’s p.c.? I find the fur collar beautiful, and she is known for buying quality and hanging on to it so I appreciate that. If instead of buttoning the coat she’d pulled one side against the other tightly then tied the belt, I think it would still fit her well. As much as I do not like the killing of animals for fur, I do like the idea of warmth without plastics. Fur will outlast plastic garments by decades, and then breakdown in the garden. Plastics will breakdown to nanoparticles and end up in living creatures. Hence I’ve changed my mind on fur.
ReplyDeleteI agree Nicole, and saw that too. In the context of their tolerance towards him, I think the least he could do is to show respect back in the small things, such as how he dresses when they are out in public together where they can be certain they’ll be photographed.
DeleteCela n'est pas de la vraie fourrure et...heureusement
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely couple. Queen Sonia looks terrific in her seasonal coat.
DeleteSonja's coat might indeed be an older one, as are the fur coats of Margrethe, however fur coats are usually worn as luxury items, not purely for warmth as such, and a fur collar is only decorative, not a warming element. One might of course say that it's ecological to continue to rewear an older fur coat, however, wearing fur normalizes the system, and that's why it would be best to stop wearing fur at all. Luckily, the fur industry is becoming a thing of the past and the sooner the better. The living conditions of the animals in the fur industry are dismal to say the least, and yet they are intelligent animals, everyone with their own personality, comparable to your pet dogs or cats. And you don't need fake fur either, ethically and ecologically produced wool coat is a much better alternative.

I have a fur coat, more than 50 years old. I loved it when I bought it and I love it still. The fur is not decorative, it is easily the warmest coat I have. I cannot improve the lives of any animal or human by not wearing it so it is silly not to.
DeleteI agree with 23:04.
Delete@ 16:15 - The only coat that can replace a fur coat is a puffed coat filled with down but down is also coming from animals. There are parts in the world where fur coats are only worn to get warm enough. Think about the people of Iceland, Greenland, The North Pole, Finland,.... If they cannot wear their fur coats any more, nor puffed coats filled with down they will be forced to wear coats filled with synthetic down (almost) as warm as real down or fur. They will wear these coats less longer than their real fur coats and their coats will end up in the waste bin. It will be collected with other waste articles and will stay somewhere in nature, but it will never disappear. This is comparable with the polyester nanoparticles which are filling the seas and the oceans and are eaten by the fish and end up in the food for people where it is slowly but surely making us all ill and death.
Ne porter aucune fourrure
