Japan’s former Emperor Akihito turned 92 on December 23, 2025. On the occasion of his birthday, the Imperial Household Agency released new photographs of Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko, taken at the Sento Imperial Residence in Minato Ward, Tokyo on December 8, 2025. Former Emperor Akihito abdicated the Chrysanthemum Throne in 2019 after a reign of more than three decades.
On December 23, 2025, Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, and their daughter, Princess Aiko, visited the Sento Imperial Palace in Tokyo’s Minato ward to celebrate Emperor Emeritus Akihito’s 92nd birthday.
This couple reminds me of my own grandparents (rest in peace), the serene personalities, the beautiful smiles, gentle touches.

ReplyDeleteEmpress Michiko's brows are almost in the upper half of her fore-head. Is it a tattoe. I have always known her like this, maybe she looked different when she was young herself.
