      Agreed. Maxima does look stunning.
      Beautifully matched jewellery.
At the risk of being unkind the President, by comparison appears rather boring and dressed for a more informal event.

I'm at a loss for words except "be still my heart". This is so beautiful, pure joy to look at. A sari , basicall a long broad scarf made of exquisite fabric just draped around her, without any further complications, the high art of being simple. One of her best outfits or me, style, colours, her arms :-) . perfection.

For your information: Hindustan people live in Suriname (they are descendants of indentured labourers from the former British India). So, in my opinion, the sari is not out of place

Please learn something about history of the people of Suriname. And then comment again. Then you know why this is perfect for a State visit to Suriname.

13:30 has a fair question. 15:11 and 15:45 you respond rudely; there is no call for that and it makes me feel sad every time I see that tone introduced here. Pleaset stay nice.

@16.53 Rudely? Because? I just say learn more about history. I find the comment rude. Are we in India now? Please… that is not a real question. Do you think?

What is that next to her heel? It looks out of place. There is a dark brown color at the bottom that does not appear anywhere else of on the dress, if it the other shoe heel its placed in weird postion and does not look like their heel.
    An illusion!

Maxima chose a wonderful, joyous wardrobe for this tour. She was always dressed in a way that made her easy to pick out of a crowd, always had a huge smile on her face and showed her delight in each event. There could be no doubt she is a Queen!

Maxima looks very elegant in this sari-style dress by Jan Taminiau. TBH, I'd have preferred it if she had worn a proper sari if she had wanted to wear something that looked like one. This looks like a poor representation of the real thing, instead of a dress. It doesn't look good from the side where you can see the sari fabric seemingly pinned to the dark green blouse underneath.
What I do like though, is the fabric and the fabric pattern.

I completely agree, and as Anon 13.30 pointed out, it seems a bit off to wear a sari in Suriname. Even if it is beautiful and a good match to her jewelry.

On the Dutch websites it is explained that Queen Maxima has a lot of sari's. She picked one out and Jan Taminiau draped it around her and applied a special technique so that she can take it off and put it on like any other dress. The drapery stays in place. She has another one which is even more beautiful, I think. I wonder it was also the work of Jan Taminiau.

This is not the first time she has worn this evening dress made out of a sari. It is not wrapped around her, nomal sari fashion but is a most beautiful evening dress designed I think by Jan Taminiau made from a sari.

  22. The silhouette in this dress is gorgeous. The color scheme I love. The darker green at the back drawing out the color of the dress. This fits beautifully. I like the color of her clutch. Her jewels are beautiful and perfect choice. Her up style hair looks superb and really suits this dress. Her makeup looks lovely. Beautiful presentation by the Queen.

She is always wearing her old golden sandals with compressed thick soles and thick high heels under floor length evening dresses, especially when she is in a hot country. I have seen many queens, princesses and famous actrices wearing this type of evening sandals, some still do others do not wear them anymore.
