King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are undertaking a state visit to Suriname. On the evening of December 2, to thank President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons for her hospitality during the state visit, the King and Queen hosted a cultural performance at Thalia Theatre in Paramaribo. Dutch singer-songwriter Sabrina Starke, who was born in Suriname, performed songs from her repertoire together with Surinamese musicians.

A sari , basicall a long broad scarf made of exquisite fabric just draped around her, without any further complications, the high art of being simple. One of her best outfits or me, style, colours, her arms :-) . perfection.

ردحذفWhat is that next to her heel? It looks out of place. There is a dark brown color at the bottom that does not appear anywhere else of on the dress, if it the other shoe heel its placed in weird postion and does not look like their heel.

حذفMaxima chose a wonderful, joyous wardrobe for this tour. She was always dressed in a way that made her easy to pick out of a crowd, always had a huge smile on her face and showed her delight in each event. There could be no doubt she is a Queen!

حذفMaxima looks very elegant in this sari-style dress by Jan Taminiau. TBH, I'd have preferred it if she had worn a proper sari if she had wanted to wear something that looked like one. This looks like a poor representation of the real thing, instead of a dress. It doesn't look good from the side where you can see the sari fabric seemingly pinned to the dark green blouse underneath.

حذفI completely agree, and as Anon 13.30 pointed out, it seems a bit off to wear a sari in Suriname. Even if it is beautiful and a good match to her jewelry.
حذفOn the Dutch websites it is explained that Queen Maxima has a lot of sari's. She picked one out and Jan Taminiau draped it around her and applied a special technique so that she can take it off and put it on like any other dress. The drapery stays in place. She has another one which is even more beautiful, I think. I wonder it was also the work of Jan Taminiau.

حذفShe is always wearing her old golden sandals with compressed thick soles and thick high heels under floor length evening dresses, especially when she is in a hot country. I have seen many queens, princesses and famous actrices wearing this type of evening sandals, some still do others do not wear them anymore.
