Once again, the King and Queen look wonderful. Can anyone tell me why they are wearing such “sober” colours during this trip? I wondered at the dark colours when they received their honourary degrees, and was surprised to see them in similar dress here.

    1. It is because they respect the one year mourning period for the late Queen Sirikit.

I wonder what caring products Queen Jetsun Pemu uses to keep her skin looking healthy and smooth, also King Jigme's skin looks smooth and well looked after. Maybe they only use oils from plants one can only find in Bhutan.
    Anybody know ?

I visited Bhutan in 1997 and they live an extremely clean life. No pollution, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. At that time they didn't have buffalo or cows in the country since they didn't wish the animals to eat the local vegetation. I was invited by Bhutan tourism to visit the country, hence, I got the opportunity to meet with King Jigme's father Jigme Singye Wangchuck and his four wifes. All the ladies in the country are beautiful since their life is very different from rest of the world. The government pays for kids education whether the children decide to study with in the country or abroad. The law of the land is to wear the traditional clothes during work hours (9 am to 5 pm) and they only allowed 1500 tourist to visit country each year.

Hard to tell if the clothes are black or dark blue. Exquisite fabric as always. Interesting formal wear.

Is there a reason that the king and queen are dressed in black?

  5. Bien beaux tous les deux vêtus de gris très foncé ; j’ai remarqué des impressions sur la tenue de la Reine qui mettent son look en valeur !

Thailand still mourns the death of Queen Sirikit- hence the dark colours
