On November 20, 2025, King Willem-Alexander and Princess Amalia attended a Special Joint Session of the Senate and the House of Representatives at the Grote Kerk in The Hague. The date marks exactly eighty years since Parliament first convened jointly again after the Second World War. Throughout the Netherlands, the eightieth anniversary of freedom has been celebrated and commemorated in various places and at various moments.

ReplyDeleteIt is not only so Maxima it is Maxima's cloak, borrowed from mama. Maxima wore it yesterday. Princess Amalia looks really good the colours suit her. I even think she is wearing her mama's shoes. It is irrelevant really she looks lovely.

DeleteEven if she is wearing clothes from her mother to be dressed formal, at least she is doing no harm to the climate and she is caring for the planet.
DeleteVeerle, you must not have been able to, or wanted to, wear your mother's clothes. It is something to brag about if you are a teen or young lady that has a mother with clothes that are stylish enough that you would want to wear. Borrowing pieces from my mother when I was young just gave more clothes, which I loved. I also had friends that were jealous because their mom's didn't dress well and they would have never worn their clothes. Then there is the environmental impact as mentioned. It is a win all around.

ReplyDeleteShe does not look taller than usual and she is wearing really high heels. I think she already found her own style. She is not a copy of her mother. They have several capes in several colors. Her sisters are wearing them too. I think she took the one which matched her dress and off she went.
DeleteI agree Rossella, that because she’s currently copying her mum’s style (we know this because she frequently wears her mum’s clothes!!), she is yet to find her own. I also agree that therefore the clothes make her look very mature.and very much like her Mum!! Very beautiful still! She will gradually find her style , we all have to start somewhere and that’s even harder in the public eye. And 19:12, indeed she does look taller than normal and she consistently chooses these incredibly high heel, as does Maxima.
DeleteAmalia looks great in Mum’s clothes! I also think the lady next to her is dressed fantastically. That caramel coloured dress suits her perfectly and she displays one of my favourite styles of dressing: a beautifully cut but very plain dress that suits her perfectly, with a versatile pair of shoes that matches the dress and the woman too. No other adornment, just two pieces of clothing that are perfect for her. I love love the simplicity and elegance of thst dressing!

Maxima has a strong influence on Amalia. I think we will see her own style begin to emerge as she gets comfortable in her more public role. This is fine. I like the colors together. It isn't as youthful as it might be, but she is definitely more comfortable than she was a few years ago.

ReplyDeleteOndanks de hoge hakken is ze nog steeds een beetje kleiner dan haar vader, de koning. De dame in de bruine jurk naast haar is zeer klein. Als je naast een klein iemand staat lijk je onvermijdelijk zeer groot.
DeleteWhy should it matter? She can wear high heels if she wants to. There is no such rule forbidding it. How silly. I still have feelings about Diana wearing lower heels so she wouldn't be taller than Charles. Once separated, she started wearing higher heels. Look at King Abdullah and Queen Rania. She is taller than he is, and still wears gorgeous high heels. That is a man that is not insecure about his height.

DeleteYou know, there was a time when I thought that this freak about heels originated from someone's height complex.
Same goes for the way particular clothes designs look gorgeous on slim silhouette and still are discussed over and over by people who I bet, do not feel good in their own bodies.
Basically, I thought that loads of nasty comments stemmed from someone's personal physical uneasiness.
Now my perspective has developed:
body complexes might just be a part of the problem, the other being the result of generational gaps.
I mean, that when someone relentlessly insists on same points such as long hair, high heels, fitted clothes, supposed inappropriate necklines and that strange colour diktat on a seasonal basis, well all this sounds incredibily old fashioned and out of context to me.
It seems to me that the older the royal ladies portrayed on this blog are, the more they are praised for their fashion choices and this tells a lot about some commenters.
Most of the royal ladies featured on this forum are young or middle aged women so one can't expect them to dress like elderly women.
I happened to read an absolutely unpleasant comment on Zara Phillips wearing over the knee boots, which I didn't consider even worth being addressed.
I wonder why anyone should bother commenting if they are clearly not knowlegeable of what contemporary creations consist of.
This is a MODERN fashion blog , after all.
Classic fashion is also wonderful, provided one knows what it is about
(entirely different from OLD styles).
